The breakfast was very disappointing on the Saturday. The bacon, hash browns, sausages, eggs were only lukewarm. The croissants and pastries were not that fresh on Saturday either. The breakfast on Sunday was a little better. The room was clean. However the toilet seat was broken. We parked at the nearby train station

I’m not an expert on what qualifies as a 4-star hotel, but naturally I can only compare this stay to other 4-star hotels I’ve experienced. Based on that, this felt closer to a 3-star. I booked an executive twin room for three people, and the space felt quite small. The bed, which I expected to feel more like a larger double, seemed smaller than anticipated. In comparison to another 4-star hotel I’ve stayed at, where I only booked a standard double, the room there felt really big. That was disappointing. The coffee selection was also limited. I would have expected more variety, such as both regular and decaf options. The coffee was too strong for my taste, although I appreciate that’s a personal preference. The biggest disappointment, however, was the shower. I would expect a powerful shower in a 4-star hotel, but this one felt weaker than a standard shower at home. Even many 3-star hotels offer a proper power shower, which made this even more disappointing. While there was a bath available, I personally prefer using a shower, so this was a significant downside for me. On a positive note, I appreciated the availability of two medium-sized water bottles and that it was easy to access ice. I understand I could have raised the shower issue during my stay, but I find it uncomfortable to complain at the time. Overall, while there were some positives, the experience didn’t quite meet my expectations for a 4-star hotel.

Unfortunately, this is not a positive review. The hotel is in a great location, conveniently close to the train station and the historic centre, with easy access to everything Cardiff has to offer. The reception area is modern and welcoming. However, while the room was very spacious and initially seemed promising, several issues quickly became apparent. I had booked a city view, but instead was given a view of an internal wall. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, with springs digging into my back, making it difficult to sleep. The towels were stained (although they were replaced upon request), and the shower gel dispenser was empty. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations.

Great hotel, clean. I would like to mention the staff at breakfast were excellent, couldn’t do enough for you and cleaned crockery away quickly….in particular there was an Irish lady who seemed to be in charge and she was fantastic. I would argue that our bed was rather small for 2 but that maybe my fault for not booking correct room. Overall great stay.
