Plas Coch Hotel

A basic hotel right in the heart of Bala. Lovely, helpful staff.

Avoid! I stayed in a single room on the second floor of this pub. The room was very tired/shabby and in desperate need of a deep clean. Old carpet fraying around the edges, dirty splashes up the wall, etc. Sloping, creaking floor. The mattress was old and uncomfortable - springs dig into you all night. I’m always wary of non-white towels and bed linen as cleanliness is never as good - it’s dark grey towels here and grey bed linen. Thin pillows and duvet. And the TV didn’t work. I now see there are lots of reviews saying that same. The response from the hotel is always to say something when you’re there but I can’t see how that would make any difference as the whole place is like this. There was a gap under the room door so I could, sadly. hear other guests easily. The door did a lock but it’s definitely not fire-safe. If this was a Travelodge if would be shut down as no one would put up with how run down it is. And this place cost me more than a Travelodge. Positives: There’s a small hotel/pub car park at the back and a Spar (grocery shop) opposite. The pub does serve food (but I got a pizza from a nearby cafe). I do not recommend this place. I received two WhatsApp messages from scammers who got my data from the hotel’s insecure system. I reported it to the hotel via email and they didn’t respond. I also reported it to Expedia and they were concerned and raised a report. The scammers knew my full name, and the dates I was staying at Gwesty’r Plas Coch Hotel, Bala.

Staff were great, rooms are just too tired. Holes in towels, holes in duvet cover etc. everything just seems it was probably at the end of it’s usable life 10 years ago.

Super great staff, who made you feel very welcome. Food was also great and filling. Car park at the rear was easy to access. A good place to stay for a couple of nights. We really enjoyed our time at Plas Coch.

Does a job, location reasonable, can be noisy, but rooms are above a pub. Pillows very thin.

A central town location and great breakfast. A satisfactory stay as I was only there one night. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Lovely service and very large room, staff were very helpful, it’s and old pub but with free parking and the price was great. Meals are good and breakfast was delicious. Lovely small town

No hot water, challenging parking.

Budget stay. Room was okay but there was a horrible cheesy feet smell. Other than this it was clean and had tea/coffee facilities. Was given key and told were the room was but other than that no communication with hotel staff. Bar service was very friendly in the hotel. It was a cheap break so wasn't expecting much

Bad service not recommended bed conditions is not good

The hotel was very dated and creaky, but clean. The bed could have been more comfortable and the room we had overlooked the street and the pub opposite was very lively. Loved the breakfast!

Plas Coch is very good value for money. It's much cheaper than other local options, so you shouldn't expect luxury, but the standard was more than acceptable.

It’s a pub. Cheap. Friendly. Toilet didn’t flush properly, shower didn’t feel super clean and it was quite small. Bed was comfy. But it’s a characterful old pub and it’s cheap! Not many food options in Bala.
