In 1989, JR Shikoku was noted to develop and introduce the 2000 DMU Limited Express Series train. The train is the first train to use several diesel engines with a natural pendulum swinging. This technology allows the train to go faster on the winding lane. Three years later, JR Shikoku introduced the 8000 Series with a maximum speed of 130 km / h, followed by the new 2000DMU Series in 1998 which was equipped with a diesel engine with more power.
