Paid for a room extra and I check three times with them about this (the third being at check in the other two were a week in advance) and the room was empty when we came in. It was supposed to be a surprise for my girlfriend as it was our first anniversary and they just completely forgot, we then had to wait an hour for them to put it in and it looked completely rushed. The spa was pretty much broken, my phone was locked in a faulty locker (over half of the lockers had stickers saying out of order so I guess they missed a few other broken lockers. Another guest told us ‘ah I never lock mine it’s always sh*t’) and I had to wait an over 30mins as no member of staff was here. Then on there third day we came back to our room to see that the cleaner had left half a can of Coke in our bathroom. Wouldn’t come back, spent over £700 with them. At checkout they didn’t even bother to ask if we had a nice stay, felt like they had got our money and that was all that matters to them. .

Room was ok. Went for the New Years Eve gala dinner which was great!

Hotel was beautiful however rooms are very basic, had to ask for extra heating 3 times and 8 electrical sockets didn’t work! Some staff need training in basic customer care. Overall very disappointing

Clean spacious room. Beautiful hotel and helpful staff. Parking is limited but managed to get a space. Convenient for walking into centre

Room needed some works: lamp didn’t work, loose door handle. There was no additional blankets and the bedding was quite thin. There were no robes included for our room type although I don’t think £120 is cheap enough to not warrant robes

This is a grand old hotel with a spa, beautiful old high ceilings and elaborate Victorian grandeur. Found the room to be a little small, but staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent

Room was a great size, clean. Could use some updating and care i.e. plug sockets near bed, chairs very worn.

Beautiful room and spa facilities, Habib on the front desk was extremely helpful, a lovely 1 night break.

The room was clean and spacious. The staff were friendly. The spa was a welcome bonus as were the free welcome cookies.

Nice welcome at check-in, spacious rooms, disappointed have to pay for the water in the room unless you are a Hilton Honours member. Room not cleaned 1st day which was disappointing. The bar obliged by sending a corkscrew to the room - Thank you great service. Used glasses in the room not ckeaned. So bit of a mixed bag.

Room was spotless cannot complain. We booked an accessible room as I’ve recently had a knee replacement. The shower area was really dangerous. Water sealed over the make shift sealant which then wouldn’t drain away. It turned the bathroom into a huge puddle. Was constantly asking for extra towels to dry this up

I’m hesitating between four and five stars - the hotel is great and has the wonderful Harrogate Spa, the food was excellent, staff is fantastic and helpful, but, this IS a really old hotel which means smaller rooms, not temperature controls in each room and minimal “extras” in the room. Which is fine but doesn’t really add up to a five compared to other hotels where we stayed. If you are looking for elegant main rooms with lots of marble, this is a great hotel for you. It’s lovely. It’s close to town and the Convention Center. According to other guests, they have great drinks and the spa is amazing. We didn’t use either. The last time we stayed here was prior to Doubletree by Hilton renovating it and they’ve done a wonderful job. The bathroom is enormous with a good shower but a few little things are keeping me from giving it a 5.
