The hotel was clean and well furnished. We had a balcony room which had fabulous view of the river, a great place for watching nature around you. It was very peaceful. The pool area is good with separate pool for toddlers. This also overlooks the river. The staff were excellent. All polite and helpful which you find a lot in Sri Lanka. The restaurant was buffet style and food good quality. We had an excellent 2 nights in Kandy. Hotel situated short distance from Town centre, uphill. Just a short ride in tuk tuk.

One of the best buffets that I've ever had. Very authentic. The pool was nice, and the balcony was a nice surprise as well. The resort sits on the bank of a river so walking is a bit limited. The staff goes above and beyond.

We recently stayed at the Kandy Citadel Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were comfortable, well-maintained, and offered a pleasant stay. I want to give a special mention to Sadun Fernando, one of the servers, who provided exceptional service. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our breakfast experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend Kandy Citadel Hotel for its excellent hospitality and beautiful setting.

Great hotel in scenic location but a bit out of centre. The staff were outstanding and the service faultless.

I would have liked to see more vegetarian/vegan options on the dinner buffets. Location is about 15min from Kandy downtown -- depending on traffic this could be even longer. However, if you are looking for quite location this is perfect.

Beautiful quiet property with excellent service

I was annoyed with my registration status. I opted my reservation with breakfast included, but, hotels.Com made mistake with my reservation and this hotel denied to include complementary breakfast. I was told to pay extra for breakfast, this caused alternative arrangements on myself. My room was next to evening entertainment, music, and till midnight it was very disturbing. Payment expected only in US$, causing extra charges. Hotel location is good, but Hotels.Com mistake with reservation caused disturbance.

Nice hotel with bar facing the pool. Very large room at the far end of the hotel with River view. Bar service was slow and had to go to bar to order drink. Bar was understaffed. Restaurant was badly laid out. Beef on buffet was tough. Large queues at entrance to buffet area. Squashed bug on top of toilet cistern. Overall hotel does not compare favourably with Habanara Cinnamon Lodge and Yala Cinnamon Wild. Staff were polite and friendly

Amazing view of the river behind the hotel. You can enjoy the view of the pool, river and trees while have a drink from the bar. staff was courteous and helpful.

Beautiful views and gardens, wonderful breakfast in dining room overlooking the views. Excellent location, in the heart of Ella, walking distance to centre and yet feels secluded , quiet and peaceful in hotel.

Great view of the river and adjoining woods...Very serene

The location is great, tranquil beside the river, and close to Kandy. The design is superb with the open air encouraging the breeze. But it is the staff who really make it excellent. It is the second time we have stsyed at the Citadel, and we cannot fault it. If you are visiting Kandy, this is the place to stay.

The hotel itself is a perfect getaway from the hustle of Kandy! It’s location is a little out of the city, but the trade off is complete tranquility! The staff are so kind and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay!
