It is a well-known temple with a thriving incense offering. The temple gets crowded with devotees during each festival and the Kwun Yam Loan Treasury events. The Kwun Yam Loan Treasury is a Hong Kong folk custom symbolizing auspiciousness and good fortune. On the 26th day of the lunar new year, large numbers of believers prepare ritual items such as Kwun Yam paper clothing to offer incense and pray for financial luck. They can draw lots or borrow "treasury notes" and must return to the Kwun Yam Temple to complete the repayment before the end of the lunar year. **Lam Tsuen Wishing Festival 2024** * The Chinese Lunar New Year is an important traditional festival for the Chinese people, celebrated by every household. Citizens visit temples to pray for blessings and make wishes, seeking good luck for the new year! The Lam Tsuen Wishing Festival is a highly characteristic traditional celebration in Hong Kong that attracts numerous locals and tourists from around the world to Lam Tsuen in the New Territories. Visitors can write their wishes on wishing placards or light lotus lanterns to pray for blessings, fully experiencing the festive atmosphere of the lunar new year and celebrating with family. **Man Mo Temple** * The deities worshipped in the temple are Man Cheong and Kwan Tai. During the lunar new year, believers pray at the temple for job promotions, smooth career paths, progress in their children's education, and good health. **Traditional Lucky Poon Choi for Chinese New Year** * Poon Choi is a unique culinary tradition passed down for centuries in the indigenous clans and villages of the New Territories. It consists of layering various delicious ingredients, symbolizing reunion and abundance. In traditional Chinese culture, the dragon represents nobility, auspiciousness, vitality, and good luck. As this year is the Year of the Dragon, enjoying Poon Choi also means enjoying good luck and peace.
