Zone 2 (the temple's surrounding garden) can be visited from Monday - Sunday at 07:30 - 17:00 WIB.
Visitor service areas and temporary parking are available at Gate Borobudur due to the Plataran Borobudur revitalization process.
The ticket is valid only for one-time use and can be used until the Plataran Candi Borobudur.

Ticket Office Break Time: Every day from 15:00 - 15:15 WIB, during which time visitors cannot redeem tickets or enter the temple.

Session time selection for visiting the temple

The visit to the Borobudur Temple is divided into 8 sessions. Visitors must select a session when purchasing tickets:
- Session 1: 08:30 - 10:00 WIB
- Session 2: 09:30 - 11:00 WIB
- Session 3: 10:30 - 12:00 WIB
- Session 4: 11:30 - 13:00 WIB
- Session 5: 12:30 - 14:00 WIB
- Session 6: 13:30 - 15:00 WIB
- Session 7: 14:30 - 16:00 WIB
- Session 8: 15:30 - 17:00 WIB
Visitors are allocated time slots and must adhere to their selected session.

Dress code and restrictions

Visitors must wear special footwear (Upanat) when climbing the Borobudur Temple monument. This footwear is provided by the management upon arrival.
Visitors will be provided with Upanat in the waiting area before they begin their ascent. Upanat can be taken home as a souvenir after the visit.
Visitors are advised to wear white clothes to respect the cultural and spiritual significance of the temple.

Safety and behavior

Tourists, both individuals and/or groups, must be accompanied by a guide provided by the management. The guide-to-tourist ratio is 1 guide for every 10 - 15 tourists.
Visitors must follow the route and explanations provided by the guide. The time spent on the monument is strictly limited to 1 hour from the start of climbing the stairs.
Visitors are not allowed to deviate from the designated route or engage in disruptive behavior.
Visitors are not allowed to consume food or drinks, smoke, or throw trash in the temple area.
Climbing walls or touching reliefs is prohibited to preserve the historical integrity of the monument.
Visitors should not bring drones, pets, or sharp objects/weapons.

Additional charges

If a visitor opts for a private guide, there will be an additional charge: IDR 20,000 per guest for domestic tourists, or IDR 30,000 per guest for foreign tourists.
This charge applies when the group size is smaller than the required 10 - 15 tourists, or if the visitor prefers not to join a group tour.
If a visitor arrives and their ticket type does not match the purchased ticket (e.g., for the wrong session or group), they will be required to pay the difference for the correct ticket type before being allowed to enter.

Other T&Cs

The Borobudur Temple ticket includes access to the temple courtyard (Zone 1).
Due to the revitalization of Plataran Borobudur, the temporary ticketing and parking area is located at the Borobudur Gate.
Visitor Cap: The maximum number of visitors allowed to climb the Borobudur Temple monument is 1,200 visitors per day, with a limit of 150 visitors inside the monument at any given time. This ensures crowd management and a safer experience.
Visitors will receive an e-ticket when booking online, which must be validated upon arrival by the Customer Service or Cultural Guidance officers at the Foreign Tourist Counter.
After validating the ticket, visitors will receive a bracelet/wristband and special footwear (Upanat).
After the visit, visitors must scan out the bracelet when leaving the monument for counting purposes.

Feedback and survey

After visiting, visitors will receive a thank you message and a link to a survey via WhatsApp or Email. This survey allows the visitor to provide feedback about their experience and the level of satisfaction with the visit.
