— Attractions Introduction —

Shirakawa-go (Shirakawa Village, 白川郷)
Shirakawa-go's Ogimachi (荻町) district is well-known for its Gassho-zukuri (合掌造り). Villages with unique landscapes such as Shirakawa-go and Gokayama (五箇山) were registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1995. Shirakawa-go is located in Gifu County's northwest, at the foot of Hakusan Mountain (). It is a quiet mountain village surrounded by rice fields, rivers, and a group of more than 110 "Gassho-zukuri'' (houses built of wooden beams combined to form a steep thatched roof that resembles two hands together). Many people know Hida Takayama because of the animated movie "Your Name (君の名は)". Visit the famous three historical streets, which are fun to explore to find local delicacies and try 5A beef sushi. The entire region is owned by Matsumoto City and is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park (中部山岳国立公園), which is a national cultural property. Take a dip in the surrounding hot springs, or try climbing Mt. Hotaka (穂高岳) and Mt. Yarigatake (槍ヶ岳).

Takayama (高山)
Takayama City is a "castle town" (a town that developed around the residence of the vassals) of Takayama Castle built in the 16th century. Takayama City is dominated by wooden structures, with fine woodwork giving the city a charming appearance. Hida's wood carving methods have long been regarded as among the greatest in the country, and Hida carpenters have been hired to create castles and mansions for the Japanese royal family. Most of the temples in the Nara region of Kyoto are the work of Hida artisans, and these traditional craftsmanship techniques still endure today. Many of the streets in Takayama still have an ancient and elegant atmosphere with ruins, temples, shrines, and river bridges with the charm of Kyoto.

Kamikochi (上高地)
Kamikochi is a tourist attraction and summer resort located at a height of around 1,500 meters in the Hida Mountains in western Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park and is a national cultural asset. Take a dip in the hot springs here and climb up Mt. Hotaka and Mt. Yarigatake. The name of Kamikochi comes from the hiragana name of "Kamikouchi (神垣內、かみこうち)". "Kamikouchi'' refers to the fact that Hodaka shrine (穗高神社) worships the god "Hodaka no Mikoto" (穂高見命) descending to Mount Hodaka and offering sacrifices (Hodaka Shrine Okumiya and Myojin Pond). In order to protect the natural environment, all ordinary vehicles are not allowed to enter.

Taisho Pond (大正池)
Taisho Pond is a volcanic lake formed by the eruption of Mt. Yakedake (焼岳) in 1915. The "dead standing trees" in the lake will present different dreamy scenes with different seasons and time.

Tashiro Pond (田代池)
Tashiro Pond is a shallow wetland. See the amazing greenery in May, the yellow leaves in October, and the thin ice in late autumn.

Kappa Bridge (河童橋)
Kappa Bridge is the most symbolic attraction in Kamikochi, just a 5-minute walk from the bus center. See the Hotaka Mountains, Yakedake, and the water surface of the Azusa River from the bridge. Admire the long holidays in May, the summer vacation, and the autumn leaves season that attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad.
