Daikakuji Temple Daikakuji Temple was originally built in the early Heian period about 1,200 years ago and was used as the palace of Emperor Saga. Daikakuji Temple is located at the northern end of Arashiyama, a popular resort in Kyoto. The dormitories and study halls in the temple are connected by a series of antique corridors. On the east side of Daikakuji Temple, there is Osawa Pond, Japan's oldest artificial spring forest, covering an area of about 1 kilometer. It is said that Emperor Saga imitated Dongting Lake in China during the Tang Dynasty.
