Queen Wilhelmina abdicated and was replaced by Queen Juliana. The people then celebrated Queen's Day on April 30, coinciding with Queen Juliana's birthday. After the appointment of Queen Beatrix, Queen's Day was still celebrated on April 30.

In 2014, the celebration’s name changed from Queen's Day to King's Day following the appointment of King Willem Alexander. King’s Day is celebrated on April 27.
