Great hostel, heaps fun, the beds, bathroom and kitchen are great, also the location and atmosphere. Recommend!

Great hostel with a friendly atmosphere! The rooms were clean, and the common area was perfect for meeting fellow travelers. Staff were helpful and gave great recommendations for local spots. Convenient location close to public transport and attractions. Highly recommend for budget travelers!

If you like the party life it will be good, but if you want some sleep then not so good. Other issues discussed with staff.

Best Backpacker resort in Surfers

Someone clearly rampaged into our room when we were not present. The room was left untidy like it was used, dust bin was kicked out of the room. They also forgot their phone with their ID card in the phone case. The hotel staff were kind enough to put us in another room but I asked for an explanation of who got in and what happened. They could use security cameras to understand that, but we were not informed of what occured. Overall we felt very unsafe. Lucky that we did not had any valuables in the room and none of our stuff was lost.

Late check in was ok but the staff member that checked us in was obviously very high or on something but polite and did his job. The room was fairly clean but under beds were filthy and had big pieces of food & containers under them which lead me to believe everything else wasn’t hugely clean. obviously it’s a quick change of sheets, open curtains and put toiletries in only. It was incredibly loud and even with ear plugs in for sleep, I could hear music downstairs every night. We had a private room toilet. Good for a back packers but an ok in general. If you aren’t too fussy and can sleep with noise or was an ok stay. Thanks.

Rooms were good and renovated however weirdly there were bins inside the room which were rusted! Silly to renovate the rooms and leave cheap rusted bins in the place. Grow a brain.

Pros: prime location (walking distance to everything), nice common area with pool, air conditioning works pretty well, bunk beds with individual light and power point. Cons: check out is too early (10am), finding the reception may be a bit confusing for someone who's never been there (it's on the 1st floor of a different hotel called The Island around the corner). When checking in they requested my passport, which is a bit weird for a domestic trip (they didn't accept my australian driver license)

Great stay. Excellent pillows, clean and stylish room, fantastic location. One small criticism, the mattress was a bit springy, not terrible but for me the one important detail is the mate was/pillow. There was some street noise/music at night but if you are staying here you are here to be out enjoying yourself and part of the street noise! Overall I’d highly recommend this place and I’d stay again.

Weekend stay, late night - very noisy.

There is a GCCC undercover Parking just next door, very convenient and was only $5 overnight. Didnt realise Bunk was park of the Island hotel so got a little confused with where to checkin but when staff explained the temporary checkin location of Island Hotel reception, understandable. Found staff very friendly. The room (Queen with own bathroom) is good, clean, has basic necessities like TV, safe, shower, toilet, usb stations all over. Room looked better on the inside than does from the outside, but cheap accomodation, not complaining.

Clean, excellent location and good room sizes. Guests were very friendly and had a blast.

I have stayed here for 2 months during March 2020. I arrived checked in and was fine until an unregistered friend of a guest was let into the property. He was hostile and aggressive in the room so much so that he almost had his fist out. I told the management and GM that was in that night. Security and the GM I thought resolved the problem was let back into the room and was told that the other guests have been given a 2 hour suspension on the room the GM escorted me to the room and said it’s fine grab your stuff and we sorted a room out for you. As I was packing the guests in question came back into the room and started with another aggressive stance and was pushing me around and aggressively acting towards me because I was gay as that came up in conversation. I don’t have a problem with it. I then called the Police and a staff member thank god was on the floor and called the GM. They arranged a refund for my stay with push back as this was 10pm on a Saturday night with no apology was made. The GM also admitted fault when I asked how would he like it and what would he have done in situation and he said I would of felt short changed and felt more should have been done were his exact words. (Which is why I calm down) The next day the manager said it wasn’t our fault and we can’t be responsible for how people act with again no apology. I think a duty of care is placed and more should of been done in this situation and you should be aware that this is how management act.
