Crowne Plaza CANBERRA by IHG

The hotel is in a convenient location, which makes it easy to get around and access nearby shop and restaurant. However, the overall experience is let down by the very old-fashioned fit-out. The bathroom in particular feels outdated, with a shower over the bath rather than a separate unit, which isn’t very practical. The vanity tap was also difficult to use, making it frustrating to properly open and close. As for the advertised garden view, it was quite disappointing—more like an empty patch of grass than anything scenic. Overall, while the location is a strong point, the facilities and presentation could really use an upgrade.

Breakfast was good and parking was very secure and easy to access.

Clean room and very close to Canberra centre. Property has lots of potential but it's quite dated for especially for bathrooms. The shower heads are literally from 1990s. Luckily, it's so convenient for my work travel otherwise for almost $350 a night, it's very average.

The room was too hot and the aircon didn't cool it well enough even on the lowest setting. The shower was over the bath with a curtain. Something I wouldnt expect from such a big hotel chain and the problem was that the water all flowed out on the ground when you showered into a hugepuddle also there was no valet or assistance with bags to thw room

The breakfast was the usual so it was decent w order-to-cook station. I asked for a room away from the restaurant and got it. The room was clean

What a disappointment. I'd always regarded the Crowne Plaza as a 3- or 4-star hotel but was sadly disappointed. We had booked a junior suite and expected a nice big room. Arriving at about 8pm and tired after a long delay in the aircraft, we found It was a big room (70 m2 ?) but there was no hanging space for clothes and no drawers! We complained and the Manager, MABI, quickly came to help. However the best he could offer was a room on a lower floor which did have hanging space for clothes but again no drawers so it meant living out of a suitcase for 7 days. There is only one set of lifts which meant a walk of a hundred meters or more to the restaurant or exit. Restaurant hours are limited. 6 am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm (approx.) outside of these hours (except for a happy hour at 4.30pm) there is only room service and there is no coffee shop. It’s obviously a family hotel and there were many children. Unrestrained children at the breakfast buffet are a nuisance and a health hazard. Servicing of rooms was adequate, but items (eg tea bags) were often not replaced.
