Rathmore was everything we had hoped for a tranquil weekend escape. We stayed in the Shearer’s Quarters, separate from the main homestead and very private, with delicious meals delivered by Cally - the lamb ragu was a favourite, highly recommended. Both hosts, Richard and Cally, encouraged us to wander the historic property, which felt a little like stepping back in time to a more peaceful era. We even saw one of the dam’s resident platypus! Cally’s local suggestions enhanced our day trip to Mount Field NP and the Gordon Dam. I only wish we could have stayed longer to take better advantage of the many hidden treasures along the route. Our weekend was topped off by an impromptu tour of Rathmore House, a true beauty of a homestead and, despite the age, very much alive. Cally and Richard clearly love their home and sharing that joy with visitors.

The hostess is very kind and welcoming. She has paid such attention to each detail. It was great to feel at home on such an old sheep farm and to feed the animals. Being able to paddle with the platypuses in the rivulet was most delightful of all. A restful stay at Rathmore.

This was a lovely farm stay surrounded by sheep and countryside. Don’t expect to be close to any dining options but expect to be fully relaxed at the end of your stay. Make sure you give the bullock a slice of bread and walk to the lake.

The hosts are very welcoming. The cottage is quaint and clean . Unfortunately our night was not very comfortable. The rooms have no fans, aircon or cross ventilation and it was a very hot night for us.Then the firealarms in all 4 rooms went off in the middle of the night .

Awesome farm stay! With friendly ducks, chicken, sheep and horse, as well as platypus in the lake. Great amenities, kept us really warm in winter with electric heaters, hot showers, and electric blankets. Similar to previous reviews, it is perfect for couples! Bonus of having the entire place to yourself if there are no other guests around. We love it here and would definitely come stay again if we have the chance to. :)

It is in a beautiful, quiet location. Hosts are delightful. Everything was fantastic. Breakfast essentials were provided and can’t imagine why anyone would want anything more. We cooked our everything meal on the second night and all utensils, pots, pans etc. were available. We wanted to stay an extra night and Cally went out of her way to juggle things so we could. Would recommend them to anyone who wants a great place to stay and be independent. Reasonable rates.

The accommodation makes us feel at home with the insulated house, breakfast provisions, and warm hospitality from Kelly. Even though it was a short stay, we were able to fully immerse ourselves into the area with the platypus creek, wool shed and the wildlife in the vicinity. What other guests said was indeed accurate, we wished the stay was longer and we will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.
