In my recent holiday I needed to travel to Sydney for an onward flight. Rather than rushing from home early in the morning, I chose to spend the night there. Veriu Central, a 5-10 minute walk from Central Station, offered a convenient place to stay. After booking I was assurred that my evening arrival would not cause a problem due to 24-hour reception, and I was welcomed on arrival. The room, while small, was ideal for an overnight stay. While I was far too tired to explore the city, the nice shower and warm bed helped me rest and relax after a long day working and the flight. The next morning I woke early and visited the nearby cafe where hotel guests receive 10% off. Feeling refreshed and fed, I checked out and easily made my way back to Central and the airport for my flight.

It was well priced and close to transport and this made it a convenient jumping off point for our travels.

The Bathroom had a lovely rainhead shower. Cosy.

The staff were great and did get something done in the room however the dirt was unbelievable. Very obvious on skirting boards, head board and bathroom. It looked like it had been cleaned in years. In the upside staff, great and the bed was comfy and bedding was fresh and clean.

Very helpful reception. Allowed us to drop bags before check in. Also helpful with airport shuttle. Bar a nice addition too. Micro suite very tiny tho - and small bed.

We had the worst room I’ve seen in all our many trips to Sydney. There was absolutely nowhere to lay out a suitcase in the room. No space at all. It wasn’t cleaned properly, and the bathroom even had wee stains on the floor around the toilet. Also very noisy form the road it was next to. After our apartment and a bunch of others lost power during our stay, instead of simply resetting the fuse switch, they insisted on waiting almost a full day for an electrician to come and do it for them. Eventually we gave up and asked to be moved to a room that had power. The new room has a little more space for suitcases, but was also dirty, and bizarrely missing some basics like two pillows, a range of towels, and tea bags. Reception gave us these but never apologised for the power outage, or for the missing amenities. Some of the staff were nice, but others grumpy and unhelpful. We would not return here.

Stay was great ! Great staff and friendly and rooms are nice and clean Quite rooms The only downside was the ventilation wasn’t great in the room as no fly screen on the widow so you couldn’t leave it open and was a lot of condensation on the windows in the morning even with the fan on so not great with that so it’ needs fly screens so you can leave the window open

After a 15-hour workday, I arrived exhausted, only to be confronted with an unexpected additional charge—despite having written confirmation from Hotels.com. To make matters worse, I was not allowed to use the credit card I booked with online, forcing me to scramble together my last remaining funds just to check in. The bathroom had visible mold, bin flies around the drain, wall & ceiling, a pubic hair on the wall, and clear signs the room hadn’t been dusted in quite some time.

Great location close to central station and trains to the airport + walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants

The staff were all quite personable, and at least two of them went out of their way to be helpful. Specific shout-out to the woman who checked us in. The rest of the time, they were friendly but functional. We were able to get a late check-out, although it took two different inquiries to achieve our desired outcome. The bed was comfortable, but it’s not a true king-sized bed. It’s two smaller beds zipped together. The hotel is in a good spot. (However, there are a dozen hotels in the same area which are almost certainly better, and you’ll walk past them feeling jealous.) It’s relatively inexpensive, although the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is strikingly relevant. Unfortunately, the hotel is in dire need of a refresh. There are marks on the walls, the carpet is worn, everywhere a suitcase might have struck a corner needs repainting, there was a watermark on the bedside table... Everything is just tired and worn out. To make matters worse, it’s all kind of dirty. Our room was dusty. We had a dirty teaspoon in our in-room coffee supplies. The common areas outside the lift on two different floors really needed a vacuum. Our bathroom was dirty; there’s was a window in the shower cubicle that was genuinely mouldy. It also meant it had an odd odour. We also had trouble getting our room cleaned (twice). There’s also no storage in the room. There are a few hooks and hangers, but a small room is made even smaller due to there being nowhere to put anything.

Loved this hotel. Great location and staff were amazing! They have the best beds - slept like a baby.

Nice staff but the hotel is looking a bit tired. Hallways didn’t seem clean and need refurbishing. We booked a micro room so it was small as expected. And while it resembled the photos in some aspects, it was quite worn and was in need of an update.

Great location but the hotel is tired, and my room and common areas were not clean. Not to the standard that the rates should reflect.
