King Room in an old style pub that has been turned into a Motel (no pub downstairs anymore). Entry from Vincent St is a little obscure but opens straight up onto a set of stairs with reception counter a climb up 2 flights. Old eclectic pub style accommodation with shared dining room, shared loungeRoom and shared kitchen. Large older king room with private brand new bathroom (which was very clean and bright). Bed was comfortable like sleeping in a marshmallow that wraps around you. Room has bar fridge and kettle with coffee/tea items. Room has own A/C. Free breakfast which you make yourself in shared kitchen. Great selection of breads, cereal, and milks. Also available eggs, fresh whole fruit along with every jam, butter and toast topping you could need. Basic breakfast, but adequate start to the day with a cup of coffee. Lovely old pub, but don’t let the decor turn you off, it’s “eclectic” and quirky! Only down fall is the street noise when some of the local “kids” yell and yahoo down the street on their way home after the other “establishments” close around midnight - thankfully it didn’t last long!

No pre-check in information or booking reminder was provided. Arrived mid-afternoon, but had to call the number on the door as it was locked. Once I got in, the check-in process was fine. Staff member was professional. I've stayed here before. Has everything you need including a self-service kitchen. Value for money and very close to all the wineries.

A cross between The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movie and Fawlty Towers! Quaint even eclectic decor, the obvious result of attending numerous jumble sales and council kerbside shopping. So much for the common areas. 5 stars for the new bathrooms, hot water and pressure. 1 star for the beds and floor coverings, all of which need replacing. The bed nearly swallowed us during the course of the night; sagging mattress doesn't really cover it! No mention on any website about accessibility issues. So it's either three flights of stairs at the front or 3 flights on an external metal spiral staircase from the carpark. If you're in your late sixties carrying suitcases this can prove to be an issue. The self serve breakfast is a novelty, whereby you prepare your own breakfast in the communal kitchen from ingredients provided. Not a problem, as there was plenty to choose from; just never experienced this anywhere in the past. Security on the room doors is minimal; a very simple Bunnings type privacy lock, not deadlocked. Only very selective photos of the internals on the website with no real idea of the outside or location. In summary, if you're looking for something really different then this is your place, however beware the beds and the threadbare carpet in need of a massive clean! Also check out the actual room before you pay. We didn't and got caught
