Lovely hotel. Great service. Walking distance from a city centre. We had a very pleasant stay, will come back.

We were initially disappointed with the room as it was much smaller than it appears to be from photos of the room, but after the wife found that the shower door was hanging off, we were quickly upgraded to one of the Junior suites which were excellent and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and the inside of the building is very impressible old fashioned but grandeous. The food was ok but nothing special and the price was ok.

There for easter weekend although was putt in lodge opposite nice room though had to ask for coffe twice as non left in room...15 min from station walking so was ok. Pubs testaurants aboutc10 mins away. About half hou r walk to centre bur one road and flat would stopbagsin

Hotel room was beautifully decorated and the best shower ever !! But !!! I just felt I was being ripped off by the car parking, the breakfast at 19 pounds and the water in the room at 2.50 - yes 2.50 for a bottle of water !!! I doubt I’d stay again despite it being beautiful !

The property was very nice and staff were very friendly and patience . The negatives were.... -Even tho it does say Gym and pool are nearby - its roughly 15-20mins walk -no smart tv -food on menu were very limited - no lift so not suitable for familiy with a toddler / young child

Elmbank has a lovely two bedroom suite in the loft. The room layout, bathroom and beds were very nice and it is difficult to find rooms like this for a family close to the city centre. Unfortunately the room is in a separate building and there is no lift. This was not mentioned on booking and sadly no assistance was offered on arrival, meaning we struggled with two children and lots of bags. There is only one small bin in the bathroom and nothing to use in any other rooms. As a family the children often need snacks, juice etc so this would improve the room. We also noticed that the floor was dusty and unswept. Many handles were broken and fineshes were poor. The cupboard used to store spare pillows was was also home to several bin bags of waste which were not even from our room, which is below the standard I would expect for Hilton and this price. I explained this to staff each day with no change. I would like to stay here again. York is lovely and the layout and location of this room were very good. I'm not sure the service met the price though.

Comfortable bed, friendly staff, lovely breakfast, this is our 3rd stay at this hotel it is ideally positioned for walking to York city centre it takes about 25 mins

I am somewhat unhappy in that I had one of the worst nights sleep. The reason for this was that the fan for the toilet which stays on 30 minutes past the light being turned off was very noisy and squealing not only that the room below when they put their light on Their fan was extremely noisy too which led to one of the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel in years the reception didn’t seem to bothered when I reported it. I never usually comment negatively, but I don’t think anything will happen unless I do. One additional detail is that the hotel has EV chargers which you can never get to use them because combustible engine cars park in the spot's and the Hotel won’t do anything about it so what is the point of having the chargers and advertising them?

Sophisticated hotel with a nice mixture of contemporary and modern features located a short distance from the city walls and train station. Upon entry the reception, lobby, dining and bar areas are impressive displaying hardwood panelled walls, stained glass windows and various antiques. We never got to dine there but did use the bar a few times and the service was very good. Our room (no 17) was located in the modern courtyard annexe on the ground floor, it was small but suitable for a short stay was well appointed, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was smart, clean and modern and fitted with disabled persons facilities i.e. grab rails, seated shower etc. however the only hand basin was very small and deep meaning that when used water would spray up from the bottom and wet the floor in that area. I thing that basin would be more suited to a cloakroom. The wardrobe which also contains a small safe and fridge ( which seemed to be overheating ) was located in such a tight corner that the door could not fully open. Overall it was a good experience and i would stay there again but would look at other room options.

Lovely hotel and staff. Location is great - in a safe residential area and walkable into the town. Our courtyard room is a bit noisy from other guests’ bathrooms, backs onto a private resident’s garden. No window views unless you stand and can see into their garden(!). Overall, a very nice hotel, comfortable.

Room ok, but not single draw in the room, just hanging space - nowhere to put underwear, socks etc. Its hide and seek to find the loo roll and unless you are more than 5ft 8in, the shaving/make up mirror is a waste of space. Never stayed on a place where the bottom sheet is the exact size of the matress...you end up sleeping directly on the matress by morning! Not rushing back...

The room was on the other side of the road of the reception and in the basement. The rooms were not cleaned and up to the mark. There was dirt on the window sills and a spider and flies in the room.

Lovely room in the lodge, large, nice decor but some unfinished work (shower fixation loose, some painting needed) but particularly extremely noisy, the room is just in front the generator which is very noisy and all night. Some work on the window to isolate would be good.

Great location. The room was lovely, very spacious, decorated well. Comfortable bed. We stayed in a suite which is across the road from the main hotel. Lovely reception area. Unfortunately our room wasn’t very clean. Dust on skirting boards and around corners of room. Grime on the shower. Smeary glass. Other than that we would stay again!!

We had a lovely stay at the Elmbank, the rooms are modern and stylish and the rest of the hotel is nice. The hotel did feel short of staff at times with the bar man having to run the bar and prepare food. We ordered food one evening and it was pretty basic for the price. I did notice that some of the communal areas could have been cleaner, the floors were dusty in areas. The breakfast was good, but being a smaller hotel, I have had better at bigger places. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
