Comfortable room, helpful staff, plenty of space for breakfast, ideally situated near the harbour.

The hotel was good but the surrounding area is very run down with lots of begging in the streets. The facade of the hotel is not as depicted. The palms shown in the advertising are no longer there. Parking was in a local council car park which was understood, but parking was dearer than advised.. No street parking available other than metered. Torquay very run down and grubby.

We love the fact the hotel is adjacent to the town plus once checked in access to the town is closer…..*bonus. The hotel is immaculate, room perfect and breakfast is pleasurable with lovely food and environment. The only negative is the parking, which is okay but there is undesirables lingering about on the stairs etc which makes you feel uneasy and uneasy leaving your vehicle overnight as it seems there were no security cameras around. Unlike the above car park which was for premier inn guests only.

Nice room, great staff and good location

I booked a long time in advance of our trip and paid when we stayed. It would have been nice to have a decent view if booking many months in advance. Turns out I could have saved £100 over the 2 nights by leaving it a lot later. The hotel was about 25 minute walk from the train station which was flat until the approach to the hotel. There were 3 steps down to the main door (not sure if was one without steps, it wasn't obvious). The man checking us in was efficient, rather than friendly. Room 218 was a good size, with large shower and large bed. It looked out on the road and the premier inn opposite. There was a large TV and minimal tea/coffee. No biscuits. You need to tap the lifts with your room card to access them which is good for security. There is also a lift down to the Harbour. Breakfast was a good selection of warm items, pastries, cereals, fruit etc. The lady working there was brilliant. Constantly wiping up juice, clearing tables and was very friendly and welcoming. After the first night I asked a very bemused lady at Reception for a mattress topper as the bed was so very hard and uncomfortable. This didn't appear. the second night was awful and, had we been planning to stay a 3rd night, would have checked out early. When handing in the room card when we left, had the chap asked if everything was OK, I'd have told him. But, he didn't say a word. Would I stay there again? NO. It's no fun having a treat if you are too tired to enjoy it.

My stay was marred by extremely poor staff interaction on my first night, whereby a member of staff, I think her name was Charity (she had an ankle tattoo (right) and white/ blonde streak in her hair). Her empty apology was backed up by a silly excuse. This interaction had a serious effect on my already poor mental health, and I was plagued by anxiety at the thought of having to speak with her again. Unfortunately, she was the only member of staff at the desk when I came to check out. I made my feelings clear at her poor error in judgement and lack of professionalism, she did apologise but the damage was already done and it made my stay less than pleasing. Outside of this, the other 2 female members of staff (both with Eastern European accents) were brilliant and it was a pleasure to speak with them. However, on both occasions of breakfast, none of the staff seemed very helpful, nor welcoming. Not one member of staff greeted me or even said “good morning”. The hotel room I was given had no view (I was in room 29, and there was an inner facing view of nothing. I wasn’t offered or asked if I’d like a view and later I noticed I could have had the option of choosing my room. Maybe this is my fault and I had just not done this at the time of booking. It is very rare I get the chance to go away and even rarer I get to book a hotel, so this wasn’t some tbh I h I knew I could have done. The hotel itself was very clean and I liked the security and the gym. 5/10 for my stay.

This is the last time booking from Hotels.com. They scam you paying Extra for breakfast when breakfast is already included when booking a room directly from the Hamptons hotel. When I saw the big difference in the final receipt given from the hotel directly and reached out to inquire about it, hotels.com agents arrogantly didn't want to accept it that they completely manipulated the pricing and avoided me voicing this out by closing chats. They will literally charge you for breakfast when its already included in a cheaper rate. Complete scam this site hotels.com are. Do not recommend, beware.

Nice and clean hotel

Brilliant from start to finish, wonderful staff, helpful, polite and nothing too much trouble. Game changer for us as my wife uses a mobility scooter was the lift direct from the lobby to the marina/main road pavement , plenty of “eateries “ and pubs if required . We had an accessible room which was spotless and excellent for our needs! Parking is not available on site but this is clearly stated on booking, we have a Blue Badge but a lot of car parks do still charge, we purchased an 8 day permit from Torbay Council for piece of mind. Breakfast was ample and from what was available daily seemed to cater for lots of dietary needs- eg cooked Breakfast, White, Brown and Gluten Free Bread, Muffins, Soya and Oat Milk, Cereals,fresh fruit, yoghurt, Danish Pastries and a Waffle Maker! An array of Teas and Coffees and juices! To work of your breakfast if required a gym is available accessed using your room key. Didn’t take many photos.

Greeted warmly on arrival hotel room fully prepared very clean excellant shower. All staff were very friendly and helpful the complimentary buffet breakfasts were amazing we would definately visit this hotel again.

Enjoyed our stay at Hampton by Hilton in Torquay. It was very convenient, in easy reach of the harbour and restaurants. The staff were lovely - very chatty, pleasant and helpful and all with a good sense of humour.

Really enjoyed our stay, breakfast was very good, clea roo, king size bed, great sleep.
