What Guests Say About Their Stay

Stuart

Although our stay was fleeting (just one night) we were made to feel extremely welcome by all of the staff. The room lacked a TV, but actually this was an absolute blessing and it made change not to reach for a remote control. Instead there was a DAB radio which was playing a soothing Classic FM when we entered our rather classy country pub hotel. Everything was to a very high standard in our room. We were even welcomed with a short, signed note on quality card wishing us personally, a warm and relaxing stay, which set the tone for a wonderful stay. The bathroom had a white, classically styled bathroom suite, with high quality furnishings and a powerful rainfall mains shower. The shower screen could have been a little longer as despite trying to be careful, the beautiful grey LVT floor got a soaking! Warm towels and organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Our stay was extremely comfortable and despite being in a room facing the road, we weren't really bothered as the bed was comfy. I did overheat a few times in the night, despite turning the GCH radiator down earlier in the evening, but that's more a reflection on me rather than the feather down quilt. In summary, classy country feel pulled off immaculately by our warm hosts We would not hesitate to stay again and perhaps this time stay for a meal which looks sumptuous. Thank you to all.

My room was in the coach house, just outside tje doors of the main building. It was very clean with just baked biscuits and Tregothnan tea. A gorgeous view of the garden was welcoming on arrival.

Great place on the Cornwall/Devon border, equidistant from the stuff you can do in the Southwest. The food they serve is great, as is the staff I interacted with. An EV charger in the same parking area is very helpful, as well. I was surprised that my single room didn't have a TV. The water pressure and heat when trying to shower were never consistent (but usually okay). While not a comment about this hotel, know that this area doesn't have much for stuff to do. If you're on vacation here, the hotel is where you go to call it a night and relax. Knowing all this, I would definitely keep this place in mind the next time I do a Southwest holiday.

The hotel was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. It was a shame the evening menu was adapted because of the hot weather but understandable.

Ideal as a fishing trip hotel, quiet with good food and service. Room needed updating - secondary glazing for road noise makes room hot and stale. New mattress and shower fitting required.

Little fly fishing break for hubby. Lovely room with all the facilities, except a telly; this was a bonus though. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Will definitely be back for more fishing!

We absolutely loved this hotel. The decor is beautiful the whole place has a lovely homely, country feel, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and it’s immaculate. Our room was gorgeous with lovely touches like home made biscuits a luxurious bed waiting for us and our dog along with bowls and treats for her. Toiletries were really nice, made with essential oils. Amazing food too and we felt very welcome!
