Check in was ok; hotel was pleasant and clean and the room we stayed in very nice. Parking is very limited and until we asked where to park, no alternative information was offered. There is a car park under the market, over the road from the hotel; it is shut at 10pm and cheaper than the hotel car park. We couldn’t book in the hotel restaurant for dinner, as full every evening. We ordered breakfast the 1st morning and it was late (we had to chase) and wrong; we had placed the order on the hotel website and it was quite clear what we wanted (took a screenshot). There bar appeared to close around 10.30pm, so when we went in for a coffee one evening, just after 10.30pm, we were very reluctantly served cold coffee. The hotel is in a nice quiet spot and is nicely presented, but the service would make me think about staying again.

We are 85 and 75 and requested via Expedia gr fl room and make booking for dinner. Arrived as expected at 7.30pm - refused meal outright. De-luxe ground fl. room booked due to husband's poor mobility. None available. Had to accept long winding staircase. No management available - asked to see proprietor - told she was away till Weds. Receptionist denied knowledge until Expedia booking confirmation produced. Clearly dining room staff refused to cooperate when a mistake had clearly been made. No approach from management during our 4 night stay. On checking out we asked to see manager - told by a different receptionist she was ill/on holiday. We asked for name of manager to take up our complaint - given her card.Receptionist specifically said our problems were known by staff. Came back after breakfast to settle bill - told receptionist had contacted 'director' who told her to make our 4 breakfasts complementary. No formal apology.
