Initially hesitant seeing the review on traveloka, it turned out to be more than expected. Starting from the friendliness and speed of the hotel staff, adequate room facilities, a swimming pool that can be used, hot water that works, and pretty good food. Anyway, I miss it... hopefully I can come here again.

It is subjective and a very personal assessment of mine, but still I hope it helps. The summit of Mount Ciremai in a clear sky captivates so much, and that is exactly the window view I get each time I get up late in the morning. Ciremai also looms over the breakfast table located in the corner of Imah Kayu by Horison. I have stayed there twice savoring the view, the friendly atmosphere, breathing mountainous air.

Food & Dining in Pasawahan

A Taste of West Java: Culinary Delights of Pasawahan

Pasawahan, situated in the heart of West Java, offers a culinary landscape rich with the distinct flavours of Sundanese cuisine. International visitors will discover a delightful array of dishes that emphasize fresh ingredients, aromatic spices, and a balance of sweet, sour, and savory tastes. Unlike the more heavily spiced cuisines found elsewhere in Indonesia, Sundanese food often features a lighter, more herbaceous profile, with a focus on grilled meats, fresh vegetables, and flavourful rice dishes. Exploring these local specialties provides a genuine taste of regional Indonesian culture.

Where to Savor Pasawahan's Flavors

To truly experience Pasawahan's food scene, venture into its local markets and smaller eateries, particularly those found in the central Pasawahan area and around Kuningan City Center. These bustling hubs offer an authentic glimpse into daily life and provide access to a wide variety of street food and traditional dishes. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified food is generally straightforward, as the majority of eateries in this predominantly Muslim region adhere to Halal practices. Look for signs indicating "Halal" or ask locals for recommendations.

Dining on a Budget: Pasawahan's Affordable Eats

Pasawahan presents an incredibly budget-friendly dining experience for international travellers. Street food and local 'warungs' (small eateries) offer delicious meals for as little as USD 1 to USD 3 per person. Mid-range restaurants serving a variety of Indonesian dishes typically charge between USD 5 to USD 10 per person. Even more upscale dining experiences are considerably more affordable than in Western countries, with a three-course meal for two costing around USD 20 to USD 30. This affordability allows travellers from the US, Europe, India, and Africa to explore the local cuisine extensively.

Navigating Pasawahan's Dining Etiquette

Dining in Pasawahan is a relaxed affair, but understanding local customs can enhance your experience. Meals are typically enjoyed with family and friends, and it's common to eat with your right hand, though utensils are widely available. Tipping is not customary in most local eateries, but a small gratuity (around 5-10%) is appreciated in more formal restaurants. Be open to trying new dishes and embrace the communal spirit of Indonesian dining, which often involves sharing food.

Understanding Pasawahan's Cultural Nuances

Pasawahan, like much of Indonesia, operates with a strong sense of community and respect for elders and traditions. European passport holders (e.g., UK, Germany, France) generally enjoy similar visa-free entry for tourism for 30 days.
