Super tolle Poolanlage!

The breakfast is great The rooms are basic and they took our towels and didn’t replace them and when we spoke to reception they said we could pay €5 for the use of another one The upkeep of the building is a health and safety risk as the paving stones are broken around the pool. The pools are great and the view is nice. The metal steps to get out of the larger pool were rickety There is no air conditioning or coffee in the room We had a step up to the bathroom which was dangerous It is only 7 minutes from the main road however it’s up hill on the way back so not great if you hv bags or elderly people

Friendly helpful staff, a bit dated. 2 problems/issues - the hill up from the road was a killer to walk up after an evening out in town & our south facing room had no air-con so was always much too hot for comfort. - small issues though when you consider closeness to town & the beauty of the surroundings

Booked this hotel so that I could be near mother at another hotel, however had to be really fit as the drive is incredibly steep and a long trek to Garda lakeside. Bit spooky at night as lack of lighting on the drive. Hotel was geared towards Germans, all info and excursions written in German and even the TV channels were in German apart from one Italian replaying dubbed American series. Hotel was in a good setting with potential to be really lovely but was tired and in serious need of an update. My sheet had a hole in it, although clean. Staff were fairly friendly and helpful. Booked on B & B basis and missed it a couple of times as it was from 7.30 - 9.30 am. but hey no big deal. Felt really anonymous. Shared the swimming pool with ducks and the odd feathers.

We first went to this hotel about 13 yrs ago, it was a little tired then but the views are amazing. I was very concerned after booking again this year and reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is dated but we were allocated on of the buildings outside the main hotel. The room was a basic with no view but the cleaners work hard to keep this hotel clean and tidy. There are 2 pools the higher one, shared with the adjacent chalet park is beautiful and next to the hotel/park pizzeria, which serves excellent food and takeaway pizza and has an amazing view over the lake. I think we were probably the only English people in the hotel mostly German etc...Breakfast is ok, nothing great but a good choice overall although seating is a little difficult as most tables are reserved for a big German tour company, the staff in the restaurant are less than cheerful at finding you somewhere to sit. Its all very badly organised but a small issue really. The hotel is up a steep hill, hence the view. Boats are easily used like buses on the lake making it all easily accessible although not cheap. Overall a enjoyable stay.

THE ENTERANCE FOR THE HOTEL WAS NOT LIT UP SO COULD GET LOST AS THE HOTEL IS ABOUT 5-8 MIN INCLINE FROM THE MAIN ROAD. THE HOTEL ITSELF IS ON A HILL SO BEST FOR CAR DRIVERS. almost cancelled this hotel after reading the reviews. I and a retired engineer aged 80+ arrived on monday 14/09/09. The climb to the hotel was nothing like a heart attack inducing slope. Once the layout understood it was possible to miss last part using paths through grounds and the lift. Hotel could do with refurbishment. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Food was more trattoria than restaurant but the pasta was well prepared, al dente as it should be and sauces good. some complained about only one set of cutlery but this is common in continental eating places. I also do it with guests when I have a 4/5 course meal as I dont have enough cutlery for one set for each course! Staff helpful and friendly but one had to ask rather than information being volunteered. Location a bit far from town but the walk could be via the lakefront most of the way. No 27 bus stop close by on the main road handy for trips. Restaurant seats about 300 folk in each of 2 sittings and evening meal choice can be made the day before or in the morning. We were B&B but ate in the hotel during stay. Salad buffet, 1st course two pasta choices or soup, main course meat/fish/vegetarian, dessert with two or three choices. Grounds nice pools nice but a bit cold at the time of our visit. Some of the shabbiness of the hotel was caused by guests eg scoring of inside of lift doors.

I read a lot of reviews of this hotel before visiting and was a bit wary as some were quite scathing. Overall, I found the Marco Polo to be quie satisfactory for a 3 star hotel. The pool areas were both fantastic and the pizzeria bar was great with a nice menu. Our room, unfortunately, was situated directly above the bar which meant we had music playing into our room until late every night and we had to have the windows open as the hotel has no air-conditioning! This would be my main complaint. Also, the hotel is situated up a steep hill which requires a general level of fitness to climb and the sign-posting for the hotel is quite poor. Once you're up the hill though the location is great, beautiful views and a decent complex. The hotel met with my expectations and in some ways was nicer than I'd thought, after reading the terrible reviews. I would recommend staying here to other visitors but be realistic about what you're hoping for.
