APA Hotel Kyoto Gion EXCELLENT

Esta en la mejor zona de Kyoto! Lo malo es que las camas están muy aguadas y no fueron nada grandes para una familia de 4, los cojines muy duros. El desayuno delicioso

A bit outdated, but location is great!

The hotel was nice, and but for the renovations it would have been 5 stars from me. But the blocked window in the room really wasnt ok. Also out of 4 nights of our stay the room was cleaned only once, which isnt enough - even though clean towels were put outside our door without fail, so its in the plus side. The local was absolutely great, and all in all, the hotel was very nice overall...

Construction is happening and it was not mentioned anywhere while booking the room. So windows were essentially blocked so no outside view made it that much worse because of very small rooms; communications w staff was difficult. Breakfast was mediocre. Great location though..

The room was clean and comfortable, if small. The location was very good - near a temple and 8 minutes' walk from the metro. If you're expecting customer service and a personal touch, you'll be disappointed. All very functional and business -like. The hotel was completely covered in sheeting during refurbishment ( which they obviously don't tell you at the time of booking), so there was no view put of any windows. We went in late April and the area was rammed with tourists. Not sure if it's quieter any other time of year but if not, Kyoto's got a serious problem.

Excellent location in Gion, easy walk to shrines and temples in the area.

Rooms are VERY small also property is undergoing construction which they warn you about it but it means they wrapped all the building with zero views. Potentially it’s better to get a hotel slightly further from Gion with better options. Bigger rooms and no construction .

The location was perfect! Very walkable to all there is to do in Gion. Bus stop in front of the hotel and a short walk to the train. The room was very spacious for us, especially after coming from a tiny room in Tokyo it felt huge. Temperature control in the room was nice. The breakfast buffet could be better, it was a bit expensive for what it was.

The hotel was undergoing construction outside horrible and we got dirty water the first day of 4 and check in took for ever and the room was for a family of 4 but the bed are twin bed so uncomfortable

Hotel is in a Great Location. Outside the Door is shops and Restaurants. There is a Starbucks on the First Floor

The room was hot. Doesnt seem like they have AC. Have to open the window all day and night to cool down. The property is under construction at the moment (4/2/2025)

Great location near Yasaka Shrine, Kennin-ji, and Kiyomeza Dera. Very much enjoyed the Japanese style breakfast buffet. The hotel was undergoing renovation work in April 2025 so the exterior and all windows were entirely covered, so some travelers will object.

Complete Disappointment - Do Not Stay Here I cannot stress enough how misleading the hotel's description is, especially the term "Excellent" which they proudly use. Unfortunately, the reality was the complete opposite. We were so dissatisfied with our stay that we checked out early, with several days still remaining on our booking. Here’s why: Construction Noise: Upon arrival, we were informed that construction would occur from 9 AM to 6 PM – which we thought we could tolerate. However, work actually started at 7 AM, and the constant jackhammering throughout the day made it impossible to relax or enjoy the room. Room Conditions: Our room had a window covered up, giving it a claustrophobic, prison-like feel. This was not mentioned beforehand, and the tiny room with no natural light made it extremely uncomfortable. Air Conditioning Issue: The in-room air conditioning was completely ineffective. It was set to a temperature that was uncomfortably hot, and when I reached out to the front desk for assistance, they suggested I "open the window" – but, surprise, the window was covered. To make matters worse, the outside temperature was -2°C, making it impossible to get any fresh air. Given these issues, we decided to leave the hotel early, and we’ve been far from satisfied with the lack of response or resolution from the hotel itself. Expedia agreed with our concerns after seeing the videos we provided and even gave us a $100 refund. Unfortunately, the hotel offered no compensation o

Rooms are run down looking but they are currently going through a renovation. I would assume once renovations are completed it will be a much nicer hotel than it currently is.

Pros: Great location! Close to everything… very convenience for tourist exploring Kyoto. Cons: I book a room for 4 people and realistic we only got a room with 2 twin beds, ideally for only 2 people. Very hot at night, property doesn’t have AC and upon request you can get a fan delivered to your room.

The ceiling is low, the heater is too hot

Loved this location, super close to everything and next door is Yasaka shrine. Only a 15 minute walk to Ninenzaka. Building is currently under construction so was a little hard to find in the beginning since the sign was covered. Was a little hot in the room, they only have heat and fan but when the fan was turned on it would just have warm air. The window was unable to open since front was under construction.
