Finding the hotel Ekimane involved asking the tourism information centre. They pointed to the name that is now only in Japanese script. But that said it is literally 500m away from the train station exit. So really hard not to find. The place is clean, and friendly. With recommendations made at the start for the onsen. A welcoming place for strangers and foreigners.

good hotel location. just next to the hakodate station
there is a convenience store jsut downstairs
staff does not speak english but that is fine as we book through expedia, check in and check out is still smooth
we book traditional room, it was small but it was a nice experience
we will surely stay here again if we come to hakodate

Live the Japanese tatami style. Practice some body language. A nice small hotel, and so close to the station.
