The accomodation was great, for the price we paid we had a clean room with all the amenities we needed. The location was perfect because it was near all the good spots in kyoto. Overall i reccomend this plac for a trip in kyoto.

The room was okay and clean overall, (the bathroom was very clean) but it was somewhat smelly. Also, the window could not be opened to air out the room. Also, the chair at the desk was incredibly uncomfortable. For a business traveler who has to spend some time working at the desk in the room this was a deal breaker. I would not recommend it for business travelers.

Very central location. Literally a block in one direction for the busy sleek newer looking streets and an easy walk, bus, or taxi to historic areas. There is a bus station and taxi stand a block away.
Definitely a small room but nothing unexpected for metro areas.
Laundry and vending machine downstairs next to the smoking room and bathrooms.
Take advantage of the luggage shipping available. I shipped 3 bags for $54 usd to Tokyo!
Be sure to search specifically for Karasuma as there are multiple hotel M locations very close to each other and Google maps picks up on a different location by default as of right now.

This was the only hotel on my six week Japan trip where the reception staff didn't seem that welcoming or helpful. They were ok but didn't seem that interested and tended to ignore me as I came and went, and when I asked a couple of questions (in basic Japanese and in English) they didn't seem very well trained. Room was good, very clean, bed fairly comfortable, air con worked well. You can leave luggage on your checkout day by attaching it with a bicycle-type lock to a bar in the lobby where it sits out all day until you come back for it. I didn't like the combined faucet/shower arrangement in the bathroom, the shower worked fine but the knob was awkward to use for the tap faucet and the pressure tended to jet water out when you just wanted to brush your teeth. Location is excellent, just off a main shopping street and literally around the corner from Karasuma station and a bus stop.

I loved my stay at Hotel M's. What stood out was that the staff would make sure everything was replenished the next day. Every day I had new tea, fresh towels, and water. I liked that they made sure to always update my room.

Good sized room. Friendly staff. Walls were kind of thin and you could hear people above or next to you sometimes.
You can walk to Nishiki market though and thats hard to beat. Plenty around or close by to eat or shop at in walking distance which is hard to beat!

The rooms were very small, but were cheap and within an 8 minute walk of a couple different subway stations. Overall, it was a super convenient place to stay and left me wanting for nothing except a little more space in the room.
