A real treasure find in Luang Prabang, the NamKhan Riverside is a short walk from the "main drag" and adjacent to both Phu Si Mountain and the famed Bamboo Bridge. The must-visit Night Market is also just a short walk away. Rooms are simply and clean(ed every day), breakfast in included and varied (try the pancakes!), the staff is sweet and attentive (A+++), and the location is fantastic -- close to everything. We spoke with many other guests and all had positive experiences. The NamKhan Riverside will be our home every time we return to LP!

The location was pretty nice. It had the awesome view of the river and it was pretty quiet at night. The bathroom needed some improvement since the drainage wasn’t really draining up all the water when showering.

Most everything was good, however, we reserved a double twin and were given a single king. Not a huge deal but we were two grown men. Also, we were told that we had to check out an hour early 30 minutes before that time was to arrive. I was amazed at this and it is enough to prevent me from staying here again in the future

10 days in Luang Prabang, staying in a traditional Indochine hotel with a millon $ view over the Namkhan river more than compensates for the tired facilities. It is in fact typical of the hotels all along that strip of road. The bed was comfortable, the rooms cleaned every day, a great breakfast included. The Lao family running the hotel could not have been kinder, more polite and happy to assist with any request. All at a bargain basement price. Am now in Singapore and paying more for 3 nights in a mid range hotel than the entire 10 nights at Namkhan Riverside

Rooms 15, 16, 17 are really great. Second floor balcony with a view over the river. Others in our party were disappointed. Room 5, though big, has no window at all! My friend described it as a dungeon. Maintenance is not up to scratch. In my room one light was not working, the shower plumbing leaks so that 25% of the water came out of the joints. There was no loo paper at all so I had to get dressed again and find a staff member to get a roll. The door to the balcony could be bolted from the inside, but if you used the balcony it could not be closed. It stood ajar which was a waste of air-con. Breakfast was basic but acceptable. Tea or coffee plus eggs cooked various ways. No problems there.

The hotel was ok. We got 2 big twin beds. The air con and the ceiling fan kept the room at the perfect temperature. Service was very good. The only bad thing is the internet connection. It was terrible. It only worked outside the room for 10 minutes at a time. We made the manager come to our room and fix it but there was nothing he could do. I read other reviews commenting on the same so I'm assuming this in an ongoing issue.

This is a fine budget hotel, clean and convenient. But after I booked and paid, they demanded $5 more for each day of my stay. I paid it rather than risk Losing the room but it was a shakedown.

My standard twin room was still being renovated when I arrived, so I was given another room, where I stayed for my two nights. Think it was better, but not sure, as newly renovated rooms seem to have both air con. And ceiling fan in the room, which was good. And I had a river view, which I may not have had in original room. Staff very nice, and helpful when possible, but not an awful lot of English. Breakfast was excellent, as you could have as much tea or coffee as you liked, and you are served a whole plate of fresh tropical fruit before your dish of choice, which, for most dishes was accompanied by a warm crisp bread roll.

We loved our stay at Namkam Riverside. We planned to stay 2 nights, but liked it so much we stayed 3 more. Lee, the host, is absolutely wonderful. He welcomed us with a fruit shake and showed us the map of the city. He arranged the ride to the waterfalls and was so friendly. It felt like we were coming home. The rooms were nice. The hotel is right by the river. Great view. Breakfast was the best, especially the banana pancake. Delicious! Rooms were clean. Bathrooms are like most in Laos, with the shower right in the bathroom with no shower curtain. The floor gets wet but there are shower flip flops. Soap provided and hair dryer, but no other toiletries. 2 water bottles in the room each day. The rooms have fridges. The location is in a quiet part of town, but a close walk to everything. 10 min walk to the night market area. Close to Mt Phousi. Great stay. Thank you Lee and Namkhan. We will stay there again when we come back to Luang Prabang. This hotel is not wheelchair accessible. There are two or three steps to enter the hotel and some rooms are on the 2nd floor with a flight of stairs. Although it is not in a noisy part of town, the soundproofing isn't that great. You can occasionally hear traffic and street noise. Not a big deal to us, but if complete silence matters to you, take note.

Great first impressions-fruit juice on arrival, talked through and provided with a local map and all key info given whilst bags taken to our room. Room was fine inside although location wise not the best in the place-we were directly under reception so no view other than the slope leading up to reception, meant we had to keep our curtains closed if we were chilling in the room. Also we didn't have any sort out outside seating area but most other rooms do. Not a big problem and did the job. Nice TV, good range of channels, fridge, good air con, comfy and clean bed. Bathroom didn't drain well so when showering you ended up with lots of water on the floor but other than that all good. Breakfast was good, nice choice and cooked fresh with tea/coffee and a choice of juice. We were pleased overall although felt it was a little expensive. Would stay again. Thanks Namkhan, couldn't really fault the service!
