We came to Casa Yati for 8 days from the Huatulco airport by taxi- approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is on an isolated stretch of the beach Playa Ventanilla in a local hamlet with a few houses, tourist shops and very rustic eateries. Casa Yati is a gorgeous 8 room property with a beautiful pool, very adequate restaurant ( on the expensive side), endless beach but surf too big to swim. It is very quiet and a really nice place to chill. There are some bookable activities but we were able to do yoga ourselves in the hillside palapa. Rooms were comfortable and air conditioned. Staff were lovely. Water was provided and beach towels. There were beds and umbrellas on the sand as well as poolside beds. The highlights were releasing baby turtles into the ocean and visiting the crocodile filled lagoon. We took a taxi or collectivo into Mazunte for dining, beach days and whale watching excursions. It is a more lively place to hang out for the day and swim without current.

The property itself is great and has the potential to be a beautiful boutique hotel but by European standards this is a 3 star hotel. The rooms are nice but there are no extras as expected for a 4 star hotel. The location on the beach is great, beach walks and sunsets everyday, but there is nothing around so a car is an absolute must. Sadly the food at the hotel is not great (and one menu all day everyday and expensive for the area) so I had to eat out a lot including for breakfast. There are also limited drink options at the bar which together means spending the whole day at the hotel and by the pool for more than a day isn’t desirable and that’s exactly what I wanted to do for the few days I was there. The staff are really friendly and they maintain the property really well. If the food and drink offering could change this could be a great stay.

The hotel is good, but the location is an inconvenience. There are problems with electricity and consequently with the WiFi. It is located in an area where there is not phone signal so you depend on the WiFi, but it is not reliable. The food at the restaurant is expensive way above average prices in comparison with Mazunte or Zipolite.

This place WANTS to be a five star hotel, but it’s not there yet. The location is unique…there aren’t many ocean front higher end hotels in this part of Mexico. And this one takes dogs, the reason we chose it. BUT, the service is spotty. Internet was down the first day despite promising high speed in the rooms (I work remotely). The next morning they didn’t have milk or sugar for coffee and then they only had half the limited food menu because of “shortages.” So for dinner - we don’t have half of these things and the menu was already pretty limited. Could be ok but not at a resort where your only real choice to eat without a car is at the resort. Power was spotty..not their fault, but a reality. AC was weak to say the least. Maybe not an issue in the rainy season, but critical in May when it’s HOT. Service is …weird. They put down the umbrellas at the pool at 6 pm. Regardless. If you are sitting under an umbrella (and it’s still HOT here), they don’t say anything. They just put your umbrella down above you. Pool towels come out..when they come out. Sometimes it’s at 8 am, sometimes it’s 9:15 am. Not helpful for anyone who wants to do a morning swim to break the heat (it’s HOT in May). The last day when we had to check out, the hotel ran out of water. The cistern was empty. So no shower. Hotel’s attitude was “sorry.” That’s it. So, unreliable power and internet, spotty access to food and then no water with a shrug. Wants to be 5 star, but needs to fix basics.
