The hotel charged a lot of money to get an uber and did not really give me any taxi options Wish they had more rental car options on site

We stayed at this resort for 9 days, and had a wonderful time. The main thing we enjoyed was the staff. Almost everyone we met from the people cleaning the property to those maintaining it, to the bartenders, and the entertainment staff all did their job with a smile (there were a few exceptions to that of course) but over all they all were excellent. The shows were wonderful, and we loved the live music artists who performed almost every night before the show. Our Expedia vip upgrade was also a nice surprise. The property was well maintained, they worked very hard on that and you can tell. We loved the no pressure atmosphere, no pressure for time shares and excursions, if you say no to something they respected that, which we loved. Some of the food was not the best, but they did have a lot of very good food as well. We had a great time! A special thanks have to go to the bartenders and entertainment team who all worked so hard to make everyone’s stay a great one!

Enjoyed an amazing week stay at Ocean Maya Royale! The staff were incredible and the Blue Team (on-site activities team) were exceptional at maintaining a really positive vibe at the resort. We cannot wait to return!

We just returned from a stay at this resort and overall had a really good experience. The customer service stood out right from the start. We had an issue with our room on the first night, and the staff handled it quickly and professionally. Everyone we dealt with was kind and helpful, which really made a difference. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained, and we enjoyed the entertainment throughout the day and evening. The restaurants were decent, and what really impressed my husband, who is a former executive chef, was seeing the buffet chef regularly checking food temperatures. That kind of attention to food safety is rare and definitely appreciated. As for the areas where the resort could improve, vegan dining options were very limited. Despite my best efforts to explain what I could and couldn’t eat, many staff members didn’t seem familiar with the concept of veganism. I was even given cheese a few times, so we decided to dine at the Buffet most often to avoid mistakes. This made meals a bit of a challenge for me. It’s listed as a five star resort, but I would personally rate it more as a four star. That said, for the price it still offers great value. Getting into Playa del Carmen is expensive by taxi, so bring plenty of cash if you plan to explore off-resort. There is an ATM on site, but it comes with high fees and a steep exchange rate, so I’d recommend preparing in advance.

Unfriendly Staff that acted inconvenienced anytime we asked for anything. Service was insanely slow. We booked privilege level and at our very first restaurant we were told told that some drinks had an up charge. Several bars we were at told us they wouldn’t give us upgraded alcohol even though it was sitting right there. Our A/C didn’t work well or keep the room very cool. One of the legs on one bed was completely broke off.

The place was amazing we had the best beach out of all the resorts around. their mexican restaurant was great, however the rest were average.

I cannot say enough good to describe Ocean Maya Royale! It is way over the top and deserves a perfect score! Definately a 5 Star Resort! We felt welcomed before we arrived! We had many questions which were promptly answered on emails back and forth and in fact I felt almost embarrassed for asking so many questions however I was reassured each time that they were there to answer anything I asked. Thank you so much! Right away we knew this was the place for us to celebrate a family vacation for my husband's 70th birthday!! We are frequent travelers and have been to many different countries on cruises, land trips, all inclusives, etc but the Ocean Maya will resonate in our memories for years to come and exceeds any cruise or all inclusive we have ever taken. We raved about this so much to our friends after the trip that they now want to go too,especially after seeing all our pictures and hearing about our experiences. Even the YouTube videos of Ocean Maya doesn't do it justice...its even better!!! Wow!!! We were welcomed as soon as we arrived. We checked in immediately and they answered all our questions and staff took us to our room. Upon entering our room we were surprised to find a birthday cake for my husband and rose petals, towels, robes and slippers. The mini bar is filled daily with 2 beer, pop and water. The restaurants, entetainment, pools, bars, activities are awesome! You will never be bored! A special sound out to Kenndell for making this trip so memorable!
