Best hotel I had been

Absolutely phenomenal!! Staff was amazing from the moment we got there until our departure. Definitely plan to stay again. Only concerns we had (but did not affect our stay): 1) When we got breakfast with 5 ppl vs 4 ppl, one person’s meal was always forgotten and they had to wait an extra 10-15 min to get their food; 2) My family prefers breakfast buffets, but I loved their breakfast menu

Hands down a great choice if you prefer a relaxing, quiet stay. Staff very friendly and reliable, never a hesitation w every request or inquiry. Peter and Missy(?) from the restaurant side were excellent; Jayne from front desk was knowledgeable and attentive. Hotel also allows use of amenities at Oceanica, a sister hotel. Use Xpedia for experiences/adventures though to save.

Peaceful place

Our family of grandparents, parents and grandchildren stayed for 4 nights at North Zen Villas in December 2024. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds are attractive, especially the boardwalk through the mangroves, and the food at the restaurant was good. The staff were uniformly cheerful and helpful.

Beautiful, relaxing resort

The Bamboo walk is amazing, and the staff is happy to help arrange for rides to different areas of the island and/or a scooter rentals for the day.

The room and services was good.. it’s just that only bamboo and pool.. no activity.. aside from that the resto and bar only 9:30pm and nothing..

We love the rooms and the hotel itself with all the amenities around like the Mangroove, the big nice pool and the restaurant. Services are great, food is not the best for me because mostly are healthy, but for all, it was great!!! Crews were so courteous and they cleaned our room every day. Rooms were clean and smells great. I love this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. The facilities are fantastic and the staff offered excellent service! It’s a bit away from Alona but that is what we wanted. Perfect if you prefer quiet. Would be back for sure.

Beautiful, clean, relaxing, well-designed resort. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was great to have on-site, however, the service was very slow. Even when food was preordered for a certain time, we still had to wait for it for about 45 minutes.

Zen villa was a great place for a short weekend getaway

Resort with a lot of potential but let down by demotivated and untrained staff. While I am not a stiff person, I do not appreciate if staff members greet me with 'hey wassup'. That is just wrong. In addition, the staff has been trained to provide preferential treatment to external guest (paying through a day pass) versus actually staying guest. In one incident, i was asked to leave the restaurant since they expected a group of Koreans to dine in and they prefer to stay among them. So, I had to no choice but to take a tuktuk and eat outside after a 15 min ride. This was pretty ridiculous and after bringing this up to the manager, she simple asked me what she should do now... well, nothing as too late at that point. Overall, we would definitely not stay there again as the shortcomings are just larger than the benefits. For the price they charge, there is a bunch of better options out there in Bohol.

Friendly staff and beautiful facilities. Highly recommend

We were comfortable at Zen Villas, and the staff was very nice and willing to help us with whenever we needed. The hotel seems to cater more to families than those looking for romance. There's a great pool, but there were a lot of kids playing in the pool when we were there. At nighttime, you could usually relax at the pool in a more quiet atmosphere, for exercise or romance. Overall, the hotel is quiet, and the live music on the weekends was really excellent. We loved walking on the mangrove walk. That's a really nice feature of the hotel. The bed was comfortable but the chair in the room was easy for sitting and you have to take a shower really carefully to not splash water all over the floor. My suite had a nice little kitchen and refrigerator, which was great. The restaurant was okay, but they'ed bring breakfast to your room and breakfasts were really good. The restaurant had some tasty dishes but we were disappointed that there wasn't more local food to try and no fresh fish. A fresh fish of the day dish would have been nice. We liked staying at Zen Villas for a few days and would recommend it. Bohol is a great place to explore. We're glad we went there and loved seeing the Tarsiers at the official conservation center.

The staff was amazing. They really helped us to feel safe and comfortable while lodging there. The food was 10/10 as well. It's a smaller size resort which is nice if you prefer the quiet. I highly recommend staying here. However as for exploring the surrounding area, it did not feel like a very walkable environment outside the resort. You need to set up transportation or rent a motorbike. They have both options at the resort and even the option to rent a tuk tuk instead of your average car. BONUS - Best happy hour in the world !!!

The place is nice and quiet. The walkway through the mangroves is definitely a must see. Unfortunately, we came during the monsoon season so it was raining most of the time. The rooms were tastefully decorated and they have exceptional staff. All together our stay was quite pleasant.

PRO: Easy check-in, located on a main road, given a local/tasty drink upon check-in, transportation available for a fee, resto on-location, pool was great, pool area has lots of seats/tables/lounging, very serene environment/ambiance surrounded by nature, staff are polite, resort is well-maintained, free access to mangrove walk, which was serene and a must-go on its own, suites has a well-stocked kitchen utensils and toiletries. Room has safe. CON: Shower has a flawed design - water splashes out and tends to pool around the bathtub/shower area, curtains on windows are somewhat see thru - i went outside to check and i can see inside with curtains down. RECOMMENDED: I still recommend to people tobseeks out peace/quiet/calm environment/ambiance.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was great and the staff was very helpful. Loved the peaceful and relaxing environment with the ability to get to all the beaches with relative ease. The breakfasts were something we looked forward to every day. We would recommend going there for anyone who ever asked us. 10/10

I like peace and quiet, not a traditional modern hotel, this is for me. You have to walk to go to the beach. I like the walk to the mangrove. Sunset is beautiful there. Staff are very friendly and very professional. Whoever owns this property should not overworked the staff. Their system is outdated, I noticed. I will give credit to all the staff, they gjve you their best. To the property management/owners, time to update your system. It is a shame. Be the first one to be innovative.
