Loved our time at the Elf Pension! Perfect location for the winter time activities. The scenery was beautiful and our kids loved the little playground they had and the sleddinn and just playing in the snow. Also very easy to get to Phoenix Park Ski Resort as it is just a 5-10 minute drive. Highly recommend it to anyone!

We were at YongPyong last year, and found the accommodations and activities at Elf Pension preferable by far. We were 4 adults, 4 children and we booked the trip last minute, so we were unsure what we'd experience. The staff spoke English, there was an ATM and convenience store onsite. Plus a playground with a free tubing area, plus a great hill for sledding. They had two dogs, some sheep, rabbits, a deer, chickens and geese. The front desk arranged a Snow Valley rental pick up (free) for us every day to their shop, they got us geared up, lift passes, and to the slopes quickly. They also took us to convenience stores and restaurants. Transportation was through International Taxi, which I'd also highly recommend. Our driver's name was Kim, and he picked us up at Incheon and then delivered us back in time for our flight. The luxurious limo van had a big screen TV and was very comfortable for 8 plus luggage.

The scenery is just beautiful. Covered in snow and icicles, it was stunning. Staff were helpful, with good English at reception, assisted with giving directions to travel by local buses to Busan - it was actually very easy!. Room was fantastic - very warm even though below minus 10 degrees outside. Loved the heated floors. We had a family room with 2 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. No restaurant on-site, but you can eat at the staff dinner which is a traditional Korean buffet, or order a BBQ pack and do it yourself on your balcony. If you want to ski, the hire place at Phoenix Park will pick you up, organise ski rental and lift passes, and drive you back. We had trouble finding an ATM that would accept foreign credit cards and the ski hire people drove us to one, and also a supermarket on the way back to the hotel. Wish we had of stayed longer here. Price was excellent, easy trip from Seoul on the Phoenix Park express bus (8000 won each). From there, it was a taxi to Elf Pension. Wish they had a shuttle bus to pick you up from the bus, but other than that, we cannot fault them!!

This is not a spa hotel even though the description says spa services. They offer nothing. The photos also show ski slopes right there, but again, false. The slopes are 10-15 minutes by car down a very steep dirt road. How does Expedia allow this??? We came with another family and specifically stayed here for the closeness to the ski slopes and the spa. Some of us ski, some of us don't. It became logistically difficult since nothing was available at the hotel- no spa, so skiing, no real eating choices except a tiny restaurant that only offered 3 types of meat...nothing else was there! We had to change out car seats, fit skis and snow boards into one car, etc. The room itself was typical Korean- towels the size of hand towels, no shower curtain so you had to sit down in the bath to bathe, etc. The grossest part was the 12-15 bugs we killed over the 3 night stay in our room. So gross. The bed had a flat sheet on the bottoml that didn't tuck in, so one roll over and it was all unmade. The "best" part was the freak snow storm that came in on our last day- we couldn't get up the long dirt road to the hotel because they didn't clear their road. Fun times.

I booked a Family room, clearly indicating we would be 4. The "family in a hotel" concept though is very Korean at Elf: you'll only have 1 queen bed, and the others will sleep on a futon on the floor. Which is fine if you know about it. Also, breakfast was only for 2 (why?), and very very minimalist. The restaurant is not really an option, as it closes at 9am and I cannot expect it to be of any special type. The decor is very simple, and the staff is truly nice and speaks good English. In a nutshell: if you're only looking for a simple place where to rest your bones between one day of skiing and another day of skiing, this is your place. If you're looking for relaxation and comfort, you'd better look elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay at Elf Pension. The surrounding is simply magical covered with snow. It wasn't snowing during our 3 days stay but the kids managed to play with the snow (it snowed one day before our arrival). The family room has a king bed and 2 thin futons. Perhaps you want to bring a portable airbed like us to lay below the futon for a comfortable sleep. They didn't provide transfer from bus terminal. We have to take taxi at 16,000krw.

Our family visited here for one night after a ski trip, three children under age 7. We had a wonderful time. The staff was great and spoke English well. When we arrived they gave us a map of the accommodations offered and explained the dinner and breakfast options. Our stay included 2 breakfasts, so we had to pay 7/each for the children breakfast. Dinner was a bit overpriced for us, so we opted to drive into the little ski area for pizza. The resort had a little convince store on sit with food and candy and other things you may need during your stay. We bought sparklers and little fireworks that we shot out into the open field. The kids loved it. There was a nice playground with a tubing slope the kids (and adults) could go down all day long. There was a small farm with animals and TONS of bunny's around the resort. There is a kids cafe (really just a indoor kid play place, no drinks or anything), it was 3,000won each child (we got 2 free). Our room was wonderful! The kitchen was nice and big and there was dishes/pots and pans to use. I believe the floors were heated. The beds however were super hard and not easy for our family to sleep on. The bathroom could use a little more cleaning, but overall it wasn't bad. The views were wonderful. Overall we had a wonderful time, the kids enjoyed it and we would stay again. :)

I love this place a lot! It's an amazing retreat from the city's madness. The heavy snow made it magical. The stunning view everytime I walk down the road is soulful. The room itself is roomy enough with a great kitchen, microwave and fridge plus utensils like pots and pans. Wifi signal is strong as well so it was comforting for us to chill and surf the net because the night gets way too chilly for us to even step out. They have a mini farm and of course the main stars - Elf and Polly the husky dogs were adorable. There's a mini playground as well to which I had fun being a kid again. For the price we paid, this is definitely a winner. Oh, there's a convenience store at the reception to keep your tummy full. Breakfast is delivered to our doorstep every morning.
