This is a great hotel, excellent value for money. The staff are very attentive. I stayed for 4 nights, but didn't request housekeeping, yet the staff kept checking in and messaging me to ask if I needed anything. They are incredibly thoughtful. If I visit Chiang Mai again, I will definitely stay here again. ✌🏻👍🏻

It's excellent! I stay here every time I go to Chiang Mai. It's close to food, shopping, and entertainment – everything is nearby. There's plenty of parking; I never worry about parking. Or if I want to go somewhere else, I can just flag down a red songthaew (local taxi) right in front of the hotel. The food is good, and the staff are great.

We had a great 4-night stay at Eastin. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They always tried to give us the best support whenever requested. The moment we arrived at the hotel lobby, we felt welcomed by the doorbell. When checking in and out, it was quick, smooth, and full of hospitality (especially the young man). The room was spacious and clean. A kitchen for simple cooking was available. Also, you can access the gym, swimming pool, and kids club (remember to register at the lobby). The bed was comfortable for a good sleep. Besides, it’s walking distance to One Nimman complex, Maya shopping mall, Think Park Shibuya, and many delicious restaurants like Cherng Doi Roast Kitchen, Ginger Farm, Mae Jin, etc. We will definitely come back if visiting Chiang Mai again. Thank you Eastin Tan for everything 🥰

I received a room and a birthday cake. It was a wonderful experience. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel atmosphere was great, located in the heart of the city. The pool had a great view, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent from the moment I stepped in until I left. I forgot something and they quickly helped me get it back. I really liked the check-in and check-out times. They were very flexible. You can check in and out at any time.

The hotel surrounding is very nice, nearby shopping street and cafe. The ambiance is calm and somehow it feels very relaxing. They have a dispenser and refrigerator filled with cold water, which is a good point since Chiangmai is very hot. The staff is also friendly.

Excellent room, comfortable bed, very clean room. There are many light switches and sockets. Choose to turn on and off any area. (Some hotels only switch control many areas Inconvenient to use) Front is cute. Call in advance to ask if there is a hair dryer. answer in a cute voice Prepare the check-in documents and wait for us to be ready. Not wasting time searching for a strong WiFi, but the air conditioner is slow to cool. It's not too late to go out. And the accommodation may not be soundproofing a bit. like the sound of water flowing in the pipes at night Or the sound of people walking in the hallway could still be heard. but does not interfere with rest Close to tourist attractions It's very easy to walk out. Overall I like it very much.

While often referred to as the "Old City," this area within Su Thep's broader administrative boundaries offers a profound connection to Thailand's historical and spiritual heritage. It is characterized by ancient temples, traditional markets, and a slower pace of life compared to the more modern districts. European travellers with a keen interest in history, culture, and authentic local experiences will find this area particularly rewarding. The serene atmosphere and the presence of significant cultural landmarks provide a stark contrast to the bustling city centre.

This district is home to numerous ancient temples, offering a glimpse into centuries of Lanna architecture and Buddhist traditions. Visitors can explore local craft shops and sample traditional Northern Thai cuisine at authentic eateries. While it might be slightly further from the main airport, transport links are generally good, with local buses and songthaews (red trucks) providing affordable transit. Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Su Thep

Understanding and respecting local customs is key to a harmonious visit in Su Thep. The Thai concept of "sanuk" (fun) permeates daily life, encouraging a lighthearted and positive approach. It's important to be mindful of the head, considered the most sacred part of the body, and avoid touching people's heads. Similarly, feet are considered the lowest part, so avoid pointing them at people or religious icons. Showing respect for elders and monks is paramount, and dressing modestly when visiting temples is always appreciated.

When visiting significant landmarks like The Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders or the serene grounds of Nimman House Thai Massage, adhering to specific etiquette is important. For museums, follow posted rules regarding photography and touching exhibits. At places of spiritual significance, such as temples, ensure shoulders and knees are covered, remove shoes before entering temple buildings, and maintain a quiet, respectful demeanor. Observing how locals behave can provide valuable guidance on appropriate conduct.

Su Thep is generally a safe destination for international travellers, but exercising common sense precautions is always advised. Keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets or tourist areas. For transportation, reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer transparent pricing. Local taxis and songthaews are also common, but it's advisable to agree on a fare beforehand or ensure the meter is used. Offline map applications can be invaluable for navigating the city independently.

In case of emergencies, the general tourist police number in Thailand is 1155. For medical assistance, dial 1669. Embassies for key source markets are located in Bangkok, but for urgent consular assistance, travellers from the US, UK, India, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa should have their respective embassy contact details readily available. It is highly recommended to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip disruptions for peace of mind during your stay.

Getting to Su Thep and Getting Around

Reaching Su Thep is a well-trodden path for international travellers, with its primary gateway being Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). For travellers from the United States, flights typically involve one or two stops, with journey times ranging from 18 to 25 hours from major hubs like New York (JFK) or Los Angeles (LAX). European travellers from London (LHR) or Frankfurt (FRA) can expect similar transit times, often with a stopover in a major Asian hub.

Indian travellers from Delhi (DEL) or Mumbai (BOM) have more direct options, with flights to CNX taking around 4-6 hours. For travellers from Africa, routes from Nairobi (NBO) or Johannesburg (JNB) usually involve multiple connections and longer travel durations, often exceeding 15 hours. Once at CNX, Su Thep is a short taxi or ride-sharing trip away, typically taking 15-30 minutes depending on traffic and your specific accommodation location.

Navigating within Su Thep and its surrounding areas is an adventure in itself, offering a variety of transport options to suit different budgets and preferences. The most common and iconic local transport is the songthaew, a red shared truck that operates on fixed routes or can be hired privately. Fares are very affordable, often starting from USD 0.50 for short rides. Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab are also readily available, offering metered fares or upfront pricing for greater certainty. For shorter distances, renting a bicycle or scooter provides a sense of freedom, though caution is advised due to local traffic conditions. Public buses offer a very economical way to travel longer distances within the city.

The best time to visit Su Thep generally falls within the cool and dry season, from November to February. During these months, temperatures are pleasant, with daytime highs averaging around 28-30°C (82-86°F) and cooler evenings. This period coincides with peak tourist season, meaning higher hotel prices and more crowds at popular attractions. The hot season, from March to May, sees temperatures soar, while the rainy season, from June to October, brings humidity and frequent downpours, though it also offers lush scenery and lower prices. Travellers from India often find the cooler months align well with their holiday periods.

Before embarking on your journey to Su Thep, a few pre-departure preparations will ensure a smooth trip. The local currency is the Thai Baht (THB). While USD is sometimes accepted in tourist areas, it's best to exchange currency or withdraw Baht from ATMs upon arrival. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport is highly recommended for affordable data and local calls. Essential apps include Google Maps for navigation, a translation app, and ride-hailing services. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and consider printing copies of your hotel bookings and flight itineraries.

Visa Information

For travellers planning to visit Thailand and subsequently Su Thep, visa requirements vary significantly by nationality. US passport holders can typically enter Thailand for tourism purposes visa-free for up to 30 days, with the possibility of extension. European travellers from the UK, Germany, and France also benefit from visa-exempt entry for similar durations. Indian passport holders are generally granted visa-free entry for up to 30 days when arriving by air, though specific regulations can change, so verification is crucial. For travellers from African nations such as Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, visa requirements can be more stringent; while some may qualify for visa-exempt entry or visa on arrival, others will need to apply for a visa in advance through a Thai embassy or consulate.

The application process for a visa, if required, involves submitting an application form along with supporting documents. These typically include a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity, recent passport-sized photographs, proof of onward travel (such as a return flight ticket), and evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay (often a bank statement). Some nationalities may also need to provide a hotel booking confirmation for their initial stay. Fees for visas vary by type and nationality, and it is advisable to check the official website of the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country for the most current and accurate information regarding required documentation and associated costs.

It is imperative for all international travellers to verify the latest visa regulations for Thailand before making any travel arrangements. Immigration policies are subject to change, and relying on outdated information can lead to significant travel disruptions. Confirming your specific visa requirements with the nearest Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate, or by consulting the official Thai Immigration Bureau website, is the most reliable way to ensure a smooth entry into Thailand for your visit to Su Thep. Booking your book flight only after confirming your visa status is a prudent step.
