I can't say enough good things about this place. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be! Amazing location close enough to everything to be convenient, but in a sweet neighborhood. There's an amazing vegan restaurant within walking distance which was a big plus. I loved the free tuk-tuk service to the station or pier. And the hotel had a really helpful map and suggestions of things close by. The room was quite large and had everything I could have wanted. And the people were the sweetest! I wish I'd found this place my first trip to Bangkok! I will come back again and again. One of Bangkok's best kept secrets!

Excellent stay at Focal Local. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Good location in a quiet neighborhood but close to the major tourist sites. Easy to get a taxi. Great breakfast served every morning. It’s a little slice of tranquility in a very chaotic city!

Focal Local is located in an authentic old Bangkok 'alley/street' and has been refurbished with 'antique' style and reverence to historic modes of decoration. The walls to the patios are painted in vivacious Thai-colours that radiate light. Breakfast, (western or thai), is ample, well presented and delicious. The omelette chef is wonderful! An additional delight is the Grandmother's house, open at weekends. For anyone who loves vintage and nostalgia, one can step in to 1930s style, sit down, and savour an assortment of teas, and thai cakes. I was prepared a splendid display, with special touches, that eshewed elegance and taste. There are savoury options too. The ambience is a treat. You are living in those moments, 1930s style. Do go. Finally, to mention, that, the family offer you a complementary 5 minute ride in a tuk tuk to arrive at the BTS station in the morning when you step out to explore. From there you have access to the entire BTS network, and the free river crossing from Icon Siam to Saphan Thaksin. The latter is the Oriental hotel side of the Chao Praya river. I feel that the only location to stay is in old Bangkok, as each year I go, I see something devoured by a glitzy skyscraper, meticulously constructed to appear as though it could fall down. By the river, you see the canals and you see lives still lived alongside water. Your whole experience is nourishment. Indeed an education! Go stay at Focal Local and experience 'the real' with Karan and his family.

I have confess I was forced to give 5 stars because I had no other option. This B&B deserves more than 5 stars!!! By far the best I’ve ever stayed. Fantastic room, above par service, amazing breakfast, extremely reasonable. Friendliest staff. Definitely will return.

As with the other reviewers, I received great service. The laundry and tuktuk services were unexpected perks that made the stay quite relaxing. Cute place, nice breakfast, friendly people.

We thoroughly enjoyed this Thai hotel. It is a bit out of the way, so is relatively quite. It is very clean and the breakfast was delicious and the service great. The manager at the hotel is the best. He is there to help you with anything you need. Truly a great experience. It is easy to get a tuk tuk or other transportation when you need it.

This is truly a magical place. The property is pristine and the manager and all of the staff are exceptionally kind and helpful! Not to mention the breakfast is so delicious every morning. They truly go above and beyond and I would recommend this place to anyone!

Nice and clean small hotel, with very helpful staff. From arranging transportation, to laundry, to other useful information and tips, they were always available to immediately help. Reception closes at 7pm, but they stay next door, so it's easy to reach them later in the evening as well. The Thai breakfast offered was delicious and different each of the four days I stayed. Not sure about the other (Western) breakfast, as I was interested in the Thai one while in Thailand.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of a two week holiday in Thailand , the staff were very friendly and helpful with where too go and what to see ,our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was very good with a choice of thai food or eggs of your choice with sausages both very good, although this B&B is not right in the centre it is close to the sky train and ferry terminal on the river , and they have a complementary tuk tuk service to take you to both, we took hop on hop off ferry and all well known sites were easy to get to

This was my favorite place to stay during my three weeks in Thailand. It's location was perfect, only 1.5 km from the BTS and a few km from the river transportation. There was coffee shops, bars, malls and local food stalls and stores all within a few kilometers walk. We never had to pay for a taxi, we took the BTS, MTR and river boats the whole time all over the city. This was the only place that provided a local map which was so helpful. It was in the middle of a residential area so there no tourists which was what my husband and I were looking for. The staff were so very helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean and the ac was such a nice break from the heat. Although you were smack in the middle of the city the beautiful natural materials and designs of the building and the garden area made for a relaxing environment. They were only place we stayed at the offered a thai breakfast option, which we took appreciatively so enhance our experience of the culture. They were also accommodating for my vegetarian diet (thank you!). We will definitely be staying here again when we come back.

Focal Local is an extremely pleasant and low key place to stay. The staff is amazing! So sweet and helpful. I highly reccomend this place. There is street noise but the rooms are so quaint and quiet. Just a wonderful place overall.

My hubby and I were really thankful to all staffs. They made us this hotel was our home. Very comfortable and cozy all the time. Location is little far from central city but close sightseeings.

Focal Local is a lovely small hotel. Staff very helpful and attentive without been overbearing. Very nice breakfast and very clean comfortable room. They arrange a free tuk tuk to BTS or Pier and nothing too much trouble. Great place to stay with lots of local foods in the area.
