We needed a place to stay close to Rhinebeck. We found this place "It's a good thing" on Expedia. The hosts were gracious, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast in the morning was exactly what we wanted. I will certainly consider staying again at this lovely home.

This rental is a room share with the owners (who are lovely people). I stayed in the attic apartment, which is very comfortable, but the ceiling is very low in some areas. The bed was very comfortable. The non-attached bathroom was small but excellent. As it's a home, there's not signage like a B&B would have. It's an excellent choice if you're looking for something off the Omega Campus.

Lynn & Michael, the proprietors were lovely people. The property was tastefully decorated in Primitive decor. The "bridge" you need to drive over is very old and rickety which was unnerving. The "roll away" twin beds were sagging and very uncomfortable. It was just me and I stayed two nights and tried both giving the first bed the benefit of the doubt. The floral arrangements were dusty and the red lamp shade shredded and dusty. There were no curtains on the bedroom windows, the bathroom was tiny and tub NOT clean. There was no where to put my makeup on in my room or in the bathroom. Insufficient light source. No bannister on the steep stairwell where there are 1/2 stairs on the twists and turns due to the age of the home. On the plus side, there was coffee and yogurt with fresh fruit and oats in the morning. Clean towels. It was o.k. for the price and convenient to Omega Institute.

My stay may 23-25 at "it's a good thing" was horrible. The reviews were a "10" I'd give it a 2 at best! The place was FILTHY. There was NO PRIVATE BATHROOM. It had to be shared. The bathroom was FILTHY including a stained tub & cat hair all over the place. NO PRIVATE BATHROOM. It had to be shared. The bathroom was FILTHY including a stained tub & cat hair all over the place. I booked this place for the reviews. The reviews LIED. I want a refund. The place was disgusting!

The setting for this bed and breakfast was what you think of when you think of bed and breakfast - quaint setting - rustic accommodations in a country environment. Bring your computer or a book - no TV in the room. The only "complaint" is that breakfast was sparse. We thought she said, "yogurt, fruit, and granola" but when we looked in the around the common kitchen/frig we didn't see any granola. There were 2 containers of yogurt and a small bowl of blueberries. We weren't sure the other stuff in the frig was for us, or was the property of the other 3 couples also staying in the house. We ended up getting breakfast in town at a local diner.

There is a tiny little wooden bridge at the entrance of the driveway and the mailbox is on the opposite side of the road from the house. A doe was keeping watch on the mailbox when we arrived after dark. And check out the night sky!

We arrived and was escorted to the "Queen bed" room which was in the attic; up a flight of 13 attic steps or so. There is no bathroom in the room, you have to walk down the flight of stairs to the bathroom. We were not told that the room had no bathroom. The hosts explained that that was on the web-site and I begged to differ. After getting home, I went to the sight and there is no mention of the bathroom being down a flight of attic stairs. If you have problems walking, or accommodating stairs, this is not for you. The bed was very comfortable and the hosts were charming, but we were surprised by the room being in the attic, with no bathroom except for the attic stairs, was a significant issue for us. There is also no complete pictures of the Queen bedroom on the hotels.com sight, nor any warning of steep attic steps. You also have to look-out for the dormer ceiling if you are taller than 5'2"
