We stayed here on Saturday 20th June. We checked in and noticed there was a wedding party in the function room. We asked reception to put us in a room where we would not be disturbed by the party as we were having an early night before leaving in the morning. The receptionist understood our request and said we would have a quiet room. The room we were actually given was directly above the smoking area at the front of the hotel. This is where all the smokers from the party gathered and made a lot of noise. Assuming the noise would stop by late evening we didn't complain. However, by 11.15pm the noise was louder than ever with partygoers constantly shouting and drinking. My partner complained to the night manager, who was not interested in doing anything about the nuisance. His response was that it was a smoking area and he couldn't stop people smoking. By 11.30pm, I complained again about the noise and again he had no intention of doing anything to control the disruptive behaviour happening directly outside the reception area. The manager had no control over the situation and refused to take any action. His advice was that the noise should stop after midnight when the bar closes. The disturbance continued long after midnight with cars arriving, doors slamming, wedding party guests loudly leaving and then the party organisers breaking down the event. In the morning I told reception about our complaint and our lack of sleep. They showed concern, but have done nothing since.
