Overall actually my rating is quite good for Somerset Grand Hanoi. The building is a bit old, but the condition in the room is quite well maintained and all equipment works well. Hotel staff are friendly too. But I was disappointed when I asked for info about the location of the nearest money changer, and the receptionist did not provide info, but offered me to exchange at their place. Initially I agreed with the offer, but eventually I was disappointed because they forced me to exchange US dollars for VND. While I only have rupiah. When I asked the nearest money changer that could receive rupiah, they seemed reluctant to provide information and only answered that in Vietnam all money changers could not accept rupiah. That info makes no sense. How can money changers in Vietnam not accept rupiah, while street vendors there want to be paid in rupiah? Then where do the traders exchange rupiah if the money changer in Vietnam doesn't want to receive rupiah like the info from the hotel staff? At that time there were 2 reception staff and 1 person seemed to be their supervisor or manager.
