Having set a low expectation, considering it’s a budget hotel, I was still extremely disappointed with the service here. I booked the hotel from 02/04-05/04 2019. I made a mistake with the dates and requested to reschedule within the same day. Unfortunately, they said the reservation cannot be rescheduled or cancelled. So I decided to just stay from 04/04-05/04 and forfeited the rest of my reservation. But to my horror, when I arrived at 04/04 night, I was told that they’ve cancelled my reservation and asked me to rebook and pay for the night’s accommodation which has been fully paid before. They told me since I didn’t show up on 02/04, my reservation was automatically cancelled without any refund or notification to me! There’s no such statement in the confirmation email when I booked this hotel! The allegory they used to define my situation is; if I purchased something and left it behind, I would definitely lose the good. The explanation didn’t make any sense to me and it still doesn’t. The staffs were rude and unhelpful. They even said a swear word when we asked to see the manager. The manager is even worse!! He refused to speak with us. The staffs there said that the new manager is just 4 months into the job and he only cares about the numbers, extremely money minded with zero empathy. We’re left stranded at the hotel lobby for 3 hours with the staff nowhere in sight. Since it’s already past midnight and I was travelling with my elderly parents who were already exhausted, we had no other options but to book and pay CHF 276 again for the accommodation that has been fully paid before. Moral of the story is, stay clear of Ibis budget if you want to avoid holiday from hell. They’re not worth the money you thought you’ll save. You’ll pay more in the end because they’ll try to rip you off at every opportunity. And for this to happen in Switzerland, the mecca for hospitality industry!? How ironic.
