I stayed at Everyday Smart Hotel Malang, located on the north side of Universitas Brawijaya, inside the Soekarno Hatta Apartment complex. The location is quite strategic, with easy access to many key places in Malang. The room rates are affordable, facilities are basic, and the parking area is spacious.
The room I stayed in was a studio-type apartment converted into a hotel room. It was quite spacious, with enough space to move around or even pray beside the bed. Each room is equipped with hot and cold water, though it takes some time for the hot water to come out.
However, there were several downsides:
* The air conditioner didn’t cool properly, likely because its capacity didn’t match the room size.
* The blanket felt itchy and uncomfortable, so I ended up sleeping without it.
* The restaurant only opens for breakfast and is not available 24 hours.
* Going up to the room took quite some time because of the long wait for the elevators (rooms are on the 7th and 11th floors).
* The WiFi was extremely slow, and both Telkomsel and Indosat (major mobile networks in Indonesia) had poor to no signal in this area.
Overall, this hotel is not recommended for staycations or for working online, but it can serve as a place to stay overnight if you only need somewhere to sleep. Hopefully, the hotel can improve its facilities for a better guest experience in the future.
