Tastefully decorated well preserved historical property with unique charm and atmosphere. Super high ceilings, antique furiniture, beds with canopies, rooms with private bathrooms, coffee and tea all day long, fridge in the common area, everything needed for a pleasant stay. Quiet neighbourhood, walking distance to the city center, Shakespeare Gardens and river boardwalk. Very responsive and approachable hosts living in the same property. All in all, wonderful theatrical gateway. We plan to be back one day.

Tim was great! We were some of the first guests this season and really enjoyed the inn and it's history. It's convenient to the theaters and walking distance to downtown. The inn doggie is the cutest. Can't wait to see him again! Parking was safe and easy.

Easy friendly check in . Fresh coffee was made as it was a chilly, rainy day. Third visit. Decided to go for the Princess Diana room. Comfortable bed and sitting area, but a little weird having shower stall right in bedroom. Two piece washroom was in sad shape. Appreciated coffee in the morning but site we used erroneously suggested there would be pastries. Really missed the breakfast they used to serve but even a muffin would have been a nice and economical touch. Felt it was not great value for what we paid.

This is a lovely house, but there was no host there at all during our stay. The coffee maker didn't work, the promised breakfast never appeared. And though there were two keys on the ring, neither could open the front door and my friend was locked out for more than an hour in the early morning. Someone named "Tim" promised he would respond if you called or texted him, but his voicemail is full and not receiving messages and he never responded to multiple texts, either in the evening or in the morning. We left angry, which was not how we hoped to start our time in Stratford. P.S. don't bother ringing the bell to call the inkeeper, he isn't there.

Lovely canopied bed, comfortable. Disappointed there was no breakfast - you need to check their website as Expedia was not updated about this. Tried contacting re: parking, no third set of towels for 3, but buzzer in lobby was not answered nor was message left on phone number there. Did not also respond prior about parking a second car. It took an extremely o\long time for the tap or shower to heat up ans then only lukewarm. We were on the top floor. Friendly couple when we did see them, nice to have some outdoor chairs in a back corner of the property. It was quiet.

This is a beautiful property in an excellent and convenient location. Booking was easy through Expedia. The check-in window is very limited, however checkout is simple and informal. The building is charming and spacious and the rooms are charmingly furnished. While the overall impression is very neat, the property needs a deep clean of areas like common carpets, and in some nooks and crannies such as our sink drain and bathroom window curtains. The property was advertised as air conditioned, however our room AC was not installed and the room was very hot. The lovely ceiling fan and windows provided some relief, but we needed to install a window screen that we found in the room, to add additional air flow. Although we brought this to the staff's attention, we were not compensated for this. I rate this as a wonderful spot, but with a need for improvements.

Property is charming, well located, peaceful and quiet. Room is clean but needed few " fixes": hook behind bathroom door was broken, only 2 hangers. There was a controller for either TV or fan, we were not told, but it did work. I don't believe there is AC. We did call Tim his voicemail was full and he did not answer the text message. There is a coffee machine , but we found no snacks. The inn is within walking distance of many nice cafés

The Stone Maiden Inn is a unique place to stay when you are visiting Stratford. The rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques. It is well situated in Stratford as you are in walking distance to the Shakespearean Gardens and the town centre with a great variety of places to eat. We parked our car and enjoyed walking around. I did not give it full stars because the shower in our room was too cramped and our mattress was too soft which made it difficult to sleep.

Although "official" check-in time ran from 4-6pm, we had advised the innkeeper a day in advance that we would be there around 8pm. Although we received no reply to that email, we assumed 8pm would be okay. The parking area seemed to be full, so we texted the innkeeper from the driveway, and went inside. We were greeted by a rather cranky gentleman, who said there was lots of room to "park on the grass; it's dead anyway." The room was okay, though it could have used a good cleaning: dustbunnies under the beds and around the baseboards, etc. The amenities, e.g., "complimentary toiletries," consisted of a bottle of body wash, a bottle of shampoo/conditioner, a well-used sofsoap dispenser, and a stack of Q-tips. A glass, or even a paper cup to allow for a glass of water in the room would have been nice. We were curious about the extension cord in our room that disappeared through a hole in the wall. On the bright side, the beds were very comfortable and the Inn is in a great location, just a very short walk to restaurants and other downtown Stratford attractions. Overall though, it's case of what may once have been historic charm that's now just old.
