This hotel in Thunder Bay was fantastic. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful with suggestions for food. The location was great as we were easily able to get back onto the trans Canada highway 1. Parking was free and had ample spaces. Shopping was located close by. Our room was spacious, updated and very comfortable and clean. We would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Everyone from the front desk, the restaurant, were very helpful and very pleasant! I had an amazing supper, the burger is extraordinary and so was the apple pie and homemade ice cream. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows and very quiet. I was super happy because I had to be up at 4:00 a.m. and I slept solidly. I would definitely stay in this hotel again

Room was updated from the last time i was there. This would ne my 4th time stsying st the valhalla. Good rates compared to other hotels. Rooms clean spacious.. Only a little noisy with the airport close by. I had asked for a room on the front facing side to lessen the noise but was given a room directly facing the airport. After 11pm less flights made it quieter... Overall recommend would stay again. Parking free lots of room.. Thank you

The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Only one desk chair in room. Big open space where comfortable chair should have been. Unable to get into courtyard. Doors locked. Very big hotel and had to walk a mile to get ice. Parking lot blocked off and no signage or direction where to park when arrived. When checking in directed to the hallway ti go to the left to go to room. Our room was almost the farthest to the back of a very large building and we walked the entire bldg to get to our room with our luggage. The staff should have explained where to park and which door to enter.

Not having stayed at the Valhalla for some time, on this visit we noticed that the facility was definitely looking rundown and in need of at least a thorough cleaning if not a major refurbishment. During check-in we had to avoid stepping through a large pool of water in front of the reception desk. The staff seemed oblivious to it. Our room was not cleaned on our second day of the booking, with an explanation from the management that there was not enough cleaning staff at work that day. One front desk employee stated that in order to have the room cleaned we had to request this service each day. Shortly thereafter another front desk employee said that was incorrect and the room should be cleaned every day. Finally someone from maintenance brought clean towels and emptied the waste baskets, but apologized that he was not allowed to clean the room or make the bed (union issue?). The main parking lot was roped off because of paving maintenance scheduled to start one week after our stay there. A notice to this effect was posted in the lobby. The lack of parking spaces resulted in many cars trying to access the lot despite the "no access" tape across the entrances; some times we had to resort to the same action, due to no availability in the secondary lot. Restaurant staff were excellent, but the limited menu for both breakfast and dinner had almost no gluten-free options (my wife is celiac). The staff tried to accommodate her, but their hands were tied.

Rolling up to the hotel, parking was convenient and ample. Front desk staff was ok, neither friendly or unfriendly. There was only 1 elevator working, but there were plenty of luggage carts, which made the long walk to our room easy. This place is huge. Our room was perfect. It was clean, modern, well equipped and had a comfy bed. The only drawback was the carpet in the hallways to get to your room. It had an old musty odour to it. Our room was all laminate flooring, which was great. Checkout was easy, with front desk staff that appeared emotionless. Overall a great stay.

The only thing that I like about this pls e was checking out and the free airport transfer that was amazing. The driver was great. The checkout was smooth as well. The rest of my stay was terrible hotel staff was not accommodating, not helpful, I prepaid for my room and checking in still took over 20 minutes. The elevators were not working closest to my room so I had to walk very far with a lot of luggage and a puppy to get to and from the lobby. When I asked to get water sent to my room as it was a very long travel day for me and I arrived late had a brand new puppy with me and with the elevator being down I had hoped they could bring some to me and charge it to the room they wouldn’t. So I ordered food to my room then. So I could at heart get food and drinks that way. They then wouldn’t allow the driver up to my door. So my food sat without my knowledge. I ended up going down grabbing it. It was ice cold so I did not eat it as it was close to 1 am at that point. Terrible hospitality. But nice bed. No plug in bath tub though if you are a bath person. The lighting is terrible in the room as well one desk lamp and two tiny ones by the bed and one at the entrance when you first come in. Very dark rooms.
