Had a great extended weekend stay at Porth lodge! In a great location with the beach just a short walk away and Newquay within walking distance it's perfectly tucked away. The staff were very lovely and helpful and the breakfast made to order everything was a highlight. Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and homely stay

The lady who seemingly did all the front of house jobs aside chef was so so lovely. Car park useful and included (always nice in Newquay, I stay occasionally for work and it annoys having to put another tenner every time), room was clean and tidy with comfy bed, sound of birds in the morning from quiet location still close to walk to beach, bowling alley strange addition but I’m sure fun if you had kids, I got dinner which was OK nothing world changing but a solid pub fish and chips and a friendly atmosphere with a pint, breakfast had options and a lovely fruit salad alongside fried bits. I’ll 100% be back. Thanks, Jethro

My experience was okay overall. The room I was staying in was clean apart from the adjoining en-suite shower room which was a bit smelly around the toilet area and had a few hairs in the shower area. Some of the room’s fixtures and fittings could do with replacing including a stained armchair. The carpet could do with a steam clean. The staff were pleasant enough. The owners were accommodating. Breakfast was always excellent. There was always a good variety. I didn’t visit the Bar area. Towards the end of my stay the hotel’s wifi signal cut out which was disappointing. I paid for an extra night which was reasonable at £70. My total expenses cost me £710 altogether which didn’t justify just an okay experience! Finally I will say the owners were very kind in allowing me to stay until I could pay my final instalment for the room.

Late booking in 4pm! I rang the bell on the desk no reply despite them being in the next room. Once I entered the phone number then stepped back outside to get a signal. The greeting on arrival was poor. I was told where my room was, what time and where breakfast was. No information in the room about availability of evening meal no information about wifi (found that out when I went to breakfast too late by then). Shower door did not close. Unable to get TV reception in the morning to catch up on the news. I would not recommend any of my friends to stay there.

I arrived at thia property on the Saturday evening at 5pm. There was a note at reception saying latw arrivals were to call a number. I wouldn't call 5pm a late arrival seeing as checkin was only from 3pm. I called the number a few times but the reception was bad. I finally spoke to someone who asked if i had a booking for bowling or the lodge. When I confirmed it was the lodge, a sour faced man appeared from the bar area. This mans demeanour had me feeling that I had interrupted him from whatever he was doing. I felt very uncomfortable and was made feel not at all welcome. I went to my room to work but couldn't connect my laptop as there was no wifi code so I had to go back downstairs to get the code which was stuck up on a piece of paper on the bar. Breakfast the following morning was lovely and the lady serving was very helpful. Unfortunately though at this stage the damage had been done so I checked oit and booked in elsewhere even though I had booked and paid for another 3 nights. I would suggest that this property put someone more welcoming on reception. I would never return

My stay would have been excellent if the check in was good. Unfortunately when I arrived there was no one to check me in. I did venture into the ten pin bowling bar area to ask for help and the guy was very rude and extremely unhelpful. He was more interested in his phone than helping me. He has to remember he works in a customer service industry. Luckily, everyone else I came into contact with were very welcoming.
