It’s definitely a tired hotel that needs a pick me up, it needs a huge refurb and some TLC, but you get what you pay for. I think the check in time is way too late, but was happy to pay the early check in fee of £10. However, having an accessible ramp but then a lift that doesn’t work, is that safe and legal? So up 3 flights of stairs it was, the room itself was ok, a bouncy mattress that seemed to move with every movement you made on the bed, tv didn’t work but wasn’t bothered about that. However, when it came to showering, half way through my shower, the shower head fell off and thankfully I wasn’t underneath it! It seems the sealant was none existent and it had just been popped back in the best it could, there appeared to be a constant banging which I assume was works taking place fixing downstairs areas of the hotel. Also weird that when I arrived, people, who I assume to be staff or relatives of staff were just asleep on the sofas in the hotel lobby. Overall, if you want a low cost budget hotel, in an ok place in ratio to the town centre then it’s alright, if you want comfort, a working shower and tv, maybe go elsewhere.

Yes it was terrible. On arrival, they changed our room several times. There was no heating and no warm water. we complained to the management and was told we would get a refund but nothing was done. We didn't go the 2nd night and we still didn't get anything. Reported to expedia, was told they would look into it but it's been weeks now and no feedback. It's so sad because I have had multiple unpleasant experience with expedia and only just returned. But I guess they've not changed neither have they improved their services. It's such a shame as we had to book another hotel for the second night. Please be careful when you book on this site.

The hotel had no hot water, and deliberately didn't disclose this at check-in. When we spoke with reception in the morning, they told us they knew about the issue the night before and just hadn't told us. We asked for confirmation in writing and were told that the receptionist couldn't do this because it was the end of his shift. When challenged on this, he then changed to "the manager won't be here until 9". Later in the evening, the same employee refused to provide anything in writing and assured that we'd get a refund when they were contacted by Hotels.com. They're now refusing any efforts by Hotels.com to contact them. In addition to all of this, the room smelled like cigarette smoke, had no overhead light in the main area of the room, and was old, dated and in poor shape. The beds were very uncomfortable. Definitely would not recommend. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in for both quality and service.

I stayed at the Carlton Park Hotel on a Saturday night with my wife and her brother. We booked a family room which had a double bed and a single bed, and for the price, it wasn’t too bad. The hotel is a bit outdated, but for a quick and affordable stay, it did the job. When we first walked into the room, there was a bit of an odd smell, but it wasn’t anything unbearable, and we got used to it. The room was also really hot when we arrived, with the radiators cranked up to the max. I’ve seen some past reviews mention cold rooms, so maybe they were trying to compensate for that. Once we turned down the heat and opened the window, the temperature was more comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the shower worked just fine. It wasn’t anything luxurious, but it got the job done. The bed itself was okay—comfortable enough for the night—but the pillows were a bit flat, and there was only one per person, which wasn’t ideal. The view from our window was a little disappointing, though. Looking out across the garden, we could see a window that was falling apart and some wood stacked nearby, which didn’t really add to the aesthetic of the place. That being said, for the price we paid, it wasn’t a disaster. The TV worked fine, and it was a decent, no-frills place to crash for the night. If you’re just looking for an affordable layover or somewhere to sleep for the night, this place works. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels that offered the same level of comfort, so I was pleasa
