Rooms are beautiful, plenty of amenities, we felt the standard of cleaning each day was excellent! Breakfast is outstanding, a lovely platter + anything off the menu + free refills of whatever drink you like! Area is wonderful especially for hiking, especially recommend Chatsworth grounds. Will be coming again for certain!

We had a fantastic stay at The Family Tree. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, clean and quiet. And the breakfast was amazing! Just a few minutes’ drive from the Tramway Museum, or a lovely 40-minute walk along the canal to the Hurt Arms in Ambergate. In the end, we were sorry that we were only staying the one night; wish we could have stayed longer. We will absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in Derbyshire!

When I arrived I was shown to my room by the owner who was very friendly, but as soon as we entered the room she noticed the bathroom was flooded. She explained that one of the staff members had been fiddling with a pressure reducing valve and it must have caused the shower to run with the door open. They cleared the water up, but the carpet was wet through by the bathroom door and the room smelt damp all night. Next morning I went to breakfast an hour before I needed to leave. I waited 45 minutes for breakfast while customers around me were served (they were clearly regulars who knew the staff). When my breakfast arrived some items were missing which the waitress then brought out separately and, while trying to put them on my plate, accidentally tipped them onto my lap. I had had enough by this point and was running late, so I said not to bother and got up to leave. A man who said he was the owner (another one?) then got very aggressive with me and, without knowing any of the facts or trying to have a conversation with me, tried to tell me to leave as I was “intimidating his staff.” He then told me to go outside as he wanted to talk to me. He was threatening and so I refused! I was already leaving so went to my room, packed up and left. All credit to Expedia who made them refund the stay in full, but not without the hotel being unpleasant to them as well.

Excellent B&B in a great setting with super friendly and professional staff. The room was very well looked after, it was in pristine condition and had all of the amenities we needed. Convenient parking right outside, and the best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B - A selection of cereals, fruit and yogurt, freshly baked pastry, juices, tea and coffee and a delicious cooked option. Amazing value, highly impressed and we will definitely return if we're in the area again!

Such a lovely location on the outskirts of Matlock bath, lots of lovely walks too . Very clean and homely room which was lovely just to sit and chill in listening to the birds Food was plentiful and very well presented We really felt relaxed after our stay with these friendly hosts We will defiantly come again and will quite willingly recommend.

The room was very clean with amenities you would need. The bathroom was well stocked, with lots of hot water. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were the best I have anywhere, you had a tray of cereal, fruit, fruit juices and pastries and an additional hot breakfast with lots of tea and coffee. There is free parking across from the family tree, you have to take care when crossing to it. Thank you for a lovely stay.

the family tree was absolutely amazing, the staff was so nice n polite and so helpful, room was quaint and adorable and completely spotlessly clean . the breakfast was 10 out of 10 i couldnt fault it,we would definitely stay there again thank you
