My husband and I appreciated the comfortable, wide bed. Our 11-year-old loved the breakfast buffet. We all relished the 10-minute walk to the beach.

Dear Hôtel Univers Management Team, I am writing to formally express my serious disappointment regarding my recent stay at Hôtel Univers, located at 2 Rue de la Liberté, 06000 Nice, France. Unfortunately, my stay was miserable due to the lack of customer service and the unacceptable conditions in my room. The air conditioning was not working while temperatures were approximately 30°C (86°F). The room was unbearably hot, making it extremely difficult to rest, sleep, or feel comfortable. Although hotel staff provided three small fans, this was not an adequate solution. The fans did not properly cool the room and were certainly not a substitute for functioning air conditioning in such extreme heat. Most concerning, the hotel staff did not make any meaningful effort to move me to another room with working air conditioning. I was left to endure the excessive heat despite the hotel being fully aware that the air conditioning in my room was not functioning. I find this lack of action and customer care unacceptable. As a paying guest, I reasonably expected hotel staff to take my concerns seriously, demonstrate basic concern for my comfort, and make every reasonable effort to resolve the issue. Providing three small fans while leaving me in an unbearably hot room was not a satisfactory resolution. The lack of urgency, empathy, and effective customer service significantly worsened an already miserable experience. I chose Hôtel Univers expecting a comfortable room and professional

A little isolated from the busy busy old port of marseille, but perfectly located for people that like a little exercise. Staff were great.

The room for 4 people was small dark and stinky. The room has this old smoky closet smell that seeped into your clothes. The lack of AC made it even worst. We had to use a portable fan from the front desk to cool the room down. The mosquitos prevented us from opening the window at night time to get more ventilation.

There was no AC in the building and they did nothing to fix it. The shower water went all over the floor bc there was no curtain or walls/door. The location was great and having a breakfast buffet was nice but unable to sleep in the record temps in France at the time made it not worth the spend to stay there.

Simple just don’t stay here

Very clean, and the best location ever! Near so many restaurants, shops, and ice cream stores! STAY HERE!!!

On this visit I was placed in a room with French doors that opened onto a balcony with cocktail table and a scenic view. Just as before the room, staff, a/c, and WiFi were all ideal. Hotel Univers is a hidden gem just outside of Old Town.

Comfy bed, clean room, helpful staff and excellent location near plenty of luxury shops, cafes and restaurants. Everything you need for a fantastic stay in Nice!

An incredible find. Perfect secure location convenient blocks from Old Town and the beach. Excellent wifi and a/c. Best feature: the super friendly helpful staff. Shout out to Anileya- hostess extraordinaire and Iphone wizard.

The hotel’s location is absolutely exceptional — perfect for exploring the city, beaches, restaurants, and everything nearby. The cleanliness was also outstanding, and housekeeping did a great job throughout my stay. However, I was genuinely surprised that this is rated as a four-star hotel when the rooms offer almost no amenities. There was no complimentary water, no coffee or tea setup, and not even basic toiletries like body lotion. It honestly felt more like a very clean bed-and-breakfast than a proper four-star experience. If you value location and cleanliness above all else, this hotel does deliver. But in terms of comfort and in-room amenities, it falls short of what you would normally expect from a four-star property.
