Hotel Grand City

This place was a geat, budget friendly and located very well. I am honestly only giving this place 5 stars for the staff. All of them where very professional and made me feel at home. They where very inviting. The room is clean, as we know the hotel room is a bit small in Tokyo but this hotel is a bit rommy which is out of my expectation. Staff is nice, polite and helpful. Air conditioning is right in temperature. Shops and good restaurants are around the hotel within a minute, the hotel is in a good very location.

Good budget hotel. No view but it’s enough to stay. It’s convenient.

Key needs to be left at the Hotel front's drop-off box. A bit too 20th century. Breakfast buffet is great. But overall, hotel is perhaps more suitable for Japanese, than to foreigner.

It is a convenient, less-than-10-minute walk to Ikebukuro Station. • Excellent Upkeep: Rooms are cleaned daily, ensuring a fresh and comfortable stay. • Thoughtful Amenities: Complimentary water and tea are available on every floor—a very nice touch. • Exceptional Service: The staff is consistently polite, professional, and eager to help. Cons • Fixed Climate Control: During my stay in cold weather, the building was set to heating only with no central AC. Because the temperature isn't adjustable, the room became quite hot and stuffy. While opening the window helped cool things down, it did let in street noise. • Traditional Key System: The hotel uses physical keys rather than access cards. Guests are required to return the key to the front desk every time they leave the building, even for a quick trip to a convenience store. Overall Verdict This is a solid choice for travelers who prioritize a fantastic location and great service. However, if you are looking for a sleek, modern hotel with high-tech amenities and individual climate control, this might not be the best fit for you.

This hotel is close to many restaurants and shops. Staffs were very kind and kept my baggage before check-in and after check-out. They gave me some amenities like coffee and tooth brush. Double bed room was bit small but very clean with comfortable bed. Totally, it was nice stay for solo traveler.

Profsssional staff, great directions for local sites and usage of facilities. Third time visiting hotel. Will come again in the future.

It's a nice hotel but the small fridge did not work properly and the 3rd bed I suspect was a fold out couch / bed. I also sent the hotel questions about luggage transport a few days prior to arrival but my messages went unanswered and I had to send my luggage to Yamato office to pick up later. I think more details for 1st time travellers will help avoid confusion. The staff were very friendly and the housekeeping staff were very friendly too.

Nice staff and clean room.

The only issue was that I offered to pay for an upgrade by contacting the property on the day of check in, but did not hear back. This resulted in having a drawn out discussion of options at 12.40am when I arrived on a flight which was delayed 5 hours. I ended up paying for 2 rooms for the night of 12.10.25: Single (did not enter it, circa 15,400 JPY) Twin (where I stayed with my companion (12,000 JPY).

Hotel Grand City provided a great room at a great price. They dealt with my booking complications swiftly and professionally. Mika, Saitou, Morita and Takahashi were polite and tried very hard to make me and my companion feel welcome. Our room was impeccable.

The room was an excellent size and very clean, the staff are really helpful and friendly. The hotel is located only a 5 minute walk from the station so very convenient. Will happily stay in this hotel again.

Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned and fresh every day. Location is excellent and convenient. Amazing value and safe place to be if you're looking for an affordable comfortable stay

near center for shopping

Our stay was overall good, the staff was accommodating and helpful. There were vending machines, free drinks and a microwave in the hotel. Some drawbacks: stains on the walls in our room, the hotel smelled like smoke pretty much everywhere and the hotel was not eco friendly. The towels were replaced every day even if hanging and when we requested no room cleaning, they provided clean towels anyway. There are multiple combined washer/dryers that were helpful to have but the dryer was not great, took 3 extra drying sessions and some items were still damp.
