InterContinental Hotels MALTA by IHG

On arrival at the property we were very dissapointed that it was not as advertised a beach front property (about a 300 metre walk down a busy road). When shown to our room we were walked down what I can only describe as a very smelly corridor. Fortunately it could be avoided by using an alternative lift further down the hotel ground floor. The room was very clean, no issues at all, the view was fair, into an inner garden courtyard. On the first night some strange noises started at about 4:30 in the morning BOOM....BOOM....BOOM every few minutes. As soon as you dropped back off to sleep it woke you up again. Then sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 furniture was being pulled across the floor above, screeching as it was being moved. Reception, said to return at 5pm to look at an alternative solution. The alternative rooms were much further along the corridor, but the room was inferior. So we said we would try one more night in the same room...But it was de ja vue. In fairness to the staff, they checked in with us at breakfast and agreed to move us to better accommodation on a higher floor later that day. The rooms were far better and the next 5 nights were much quieter. Unfortunately on the last three nights the hotel got busier and guests returning back to their rooms in the early hours were incredibly noisy and the doors were very noisy banging shut. We expected much better from a 5 star hotel, which advertised "sound proof rooms". The staff in fairness were very helpful.

Come here for my birthday and wedding anniversary holiday and hotel management surprise me with card and drink. Pub and food just round the corner. Love the place

Large hotel, with good bar area and pool options. Room was very spacious and well appointed.

Great location and fantastic amenities. Staff helpful throughout the stay. Both pools were excellent and the breakfast in the club lounge was fantastic.

Excellent service

The entrance to the hotel is lovely. The rooms are standard. Lack of plugs, usb charging in the telephones which took overnight to charge my phone. Soundproofing wasn't the best either, needed a room change as was woken up at 7am but a constant banging for above our room. Staff was lovely. You have access to the free sundbeds on the beach although, they don't like you taking your own food and drink there as want you to purchase from their bar. Overall ok but didn't think it was worth the price

They kept bags before and after check in. It was really helpful for us. The pool is very good. I love indoor pool a lot. Thank you!!!

Great hotel in a busy area. All you need nearby with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The free beach club is great. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet gave a good variety of options. All staff were friendly and efficient and always willing to assist. The lobby bar would benefit from being an adult only area in the evening. Too many children at 9pm to make it appealing for a couple wanting a quiet nightcap. Maybe more chairs elsewhere in the lobby or a bar on level 7 where families could have their own separate space.

Everything was excellent, as expected - an oasis in a very crowded and noisy part of Malta

Breakfast was lovely there was a great selection. The room was good and the hotel well located for nearby restaurants and easy public transport to places of interest. It was off season so the outside pools were closed but we visited the nearby beach and able to swim. Staff were very friendly and helped make this a great short break.

The staff were friendly but not attentive they gave us a room that was already occupied then the first room was really unsuitable as it was dirty and smelly eventually the room we stayed in was much better but not amazing as it was right at the end of the longest corridor and where the store rooms were so we kept hearing very loud door slams throughout the early morning and during the night too. The breakfast was okay but very crowded we had to wait in a queue sometimes for over 20 minutes. Location was okay but not the best as the taxi’s sometimes got confused where to pick up or drop us. So we will be avoiding Intercontinental hotels in the future.

It was a great spot. Very clean, really good food and drinks. The staff was very nice and helpful! Definitely coming back.
