Clear that this hotel is perhaps in the middle of a management change? Let’s start with the lobby…if you could call it that…single desk with a check in computer, no place to sit, full of construction crap. The room was OK but under the bed had clearly not been cleaned as there were garbage wrappers and an old box of cookies…gross. The mattress had stains. Which brings me to my next point of contention - the day before our arrival we were informed that on either “the 20 or 21st of April” that all the beds in the hotel were being changed. Happy to have a brand new bed (and it was comfortable) but without an actual scheduled time it was getting delivered made it disruptive. Lastly…the bathroom drain did not work, it was impossible for me to wash my hair or use the rain shower as the water would have overflowed into the room where the bed is. On our last day there was a flood and the water had to be turned off (in the middle of brushing my teeth) but the guests were not informed. This hotel has potential - it’s in a good area and has a great coffee shop and Italian restaurant across the street. Perhaps in a couple of months they will have it figured out.

City centre walkable, tram system is very close, in a safe, quiet neighbourhood. Staff welcoming, check-in quick & easy. My generously sized ‘double room with balcony’ was on the 1st floor (stairs are steep). Bed was large, clean & comfortable. Seems to be going through a renovation (good in principle). However, it feels like cost-cutting means it’s devoid of the ‘home comforts’ expected – even in Amsterdam – such as a chest of drawers, mirror, in-room beverage facilities; means to contact reception, a chair for the desk, & fire/safety instructions. The armchair rested insecurely on wooden blocks. The balcony was unwelcoming & hardly the selling point suggested. There were superfluous lamps and sockets high on the wall above the bed and the wiring arrangement was weird. Though clean and tidy, the bathroom was poorly thought out. Shower head poorly placed, & insufficient shower screen, so when used, the room flooded. An electric socket had a cover missing. A poorly placed ceiling lighting meant my face was in dark shade when shaving. I’d argue it’s better to get jobs finished BEFORE taking bookings to avoid negative reviews putting off potential future clients. All that said, if all you need is a base for sleeping, storing & washing, Sara’s serves that purpose well. The staff are pleasant and always seem willing to help and rectify incidents.

First day I arrived I wasn’t informed of any maintenance or repairs at the hotel and they didn’t present this information on their website The room had two wires hanging out the wall with a peice of tape stuck over them. Bathroom had no storage no where to put bathroom toiletries The wardrobe was no bigger than 40cm with 4 Hangers a very small desk No room amenities no kettle or iron no air con etc In the reception area their was a kettle that I had to fill in my room due to broken taps but was only allowed to boil it in the reception asked for cups and told yes but they are not clean On one day one staff member told me to keep the kettle from the desk in our room then on arrival back that night I was told abruptly you can’t keep the kettle in the room even though I didn’t ask for it I was told to put it made the room the staff member denied telling me I pad for a garden view / balcony and the view I got was a storage shed with a small patch of stone we were informed that smoking through those doors was prohibited however their was cigarette butts on the floor The door only opened foward a tiny bit and our room was the accessible route to their storage shed Only positive was staff were lovely

The staff were amazing and very kind but sadly the hotel was not as good as it could have been. The wifi did not work for the whole of our stay (5 nights). The shower flooded the bathroom floor every time it was used (poor design and drainage). The bedside lamps did not work so it was big light or no light. The lift was incredibly slow so not really useable. That being said, it was in a great location close to a couple of different tram stops and one of the bigger museums. There was a lidl round the corner. If you’re planning on being out and about, it’s not a bad base. The bed was also very comfortable.

Very basic but more than suffice for the price. Frightfully narrow and steep stairs, NOT recommended for anyone with big feet or girth. They have a lift but they are really so low. You need a sense of humour to appreciate this lift. (I did.) I was so tired I didn't notice the noise while asleep but any room that are multiple of 5 (Room 5, 10 etc.) are right next to their "world's slowest elevator" and it will probably wake you up if you are a light sleeper. No amenities as such in the room other than shower gel and shampoo, but you can use the communal kettle & microwave at the reception. There was a safe in the room but I didn't use it so unsure if it works. I was very happy with the stay, good location, comfortabbly tiny room with great price.

Great location, but that was the only positive. Room was so filthy we couldn't unpack. We asked for the room to be cleaned and was told it would be - it wasn't. No heating on first night, and no hot water on first 2 nights of a 3 night stay. Bed was broken so so everythig rolled to the middle, making sleep very difficult. We would have abandoned it if we could have found something else at short notice but couldn't so had to put up with it. Avoid this one like the plague. Obviously just a money making enterprise - these people have no grasp of hospitality whatsoever.

Great location to the train, the park and other attractions. This is a good place if you’re solo travel who doesn’t mind constant construction and rebuilding through the night and occasional “wet cement” floors you get to maneuver around (I have pictures). Perfect if you didn’t bring your “nice” clothing on vacation. Also, there’s no full mirror so strictly head shots. The bathroom it’s extremely cramped but the overhead shower is nice. The elevator takes a full business day to get to your room (when it’s working) The couch and chair were filthy! Only used them to hold luggage. And there’s not more than one narrow closet to hold your clothing. Again, livable for a solo traveler. Awful if you bring a partner (which I brought my gf) In all, I wouldn’t have booked this unit if I knew they were doing renovations. I was only notified a week before our attendance. I regret it.

The staff was kind and polite. The location was convenient and close to a sandwich shop and a 6 minute walk from a major town square with tram access. However, the property advertises “designer toiletries” but in actuality it’s just a bottle of dollar store body wash and I actually had to request it as there was no soap at all in my room. The radiator was inefficient and ineffective; it took about 4 hours to warm up my tiny little single twin bed room. The hot water didn’t work at all for a day and a half and no one told me until I asked about it. The “laptop compatible safe” is the size of my hand. No way to even fit a tablet in there- nothing larger than a phone and a passport would fit in that little safe. The room was spotlessly clean, but it was more on par with hostel level not a boutique hotel level - which is fine for me as a budget conscious traveler, but they should advertise it as such… Oh, there was also a group of young people having some sort of very long, very loud party one evening (not a weekend) …. Around 11PM the guest in the room next to mine started yelling at them out the window to quiet down, but they ignored him. I would recommend this place to solo travelers looking for a reasonably priced room with a private bathroom, but do not expect “boutique” quality. Expect more of a hostel level experience..

Clean, renovated room with single bed. Location only a few blocks from Leidensplein and 397 to/from airport. Under going improvements so some noise during the day but not too loud. There is an elevator, but you must call it to your floor with the button and then once inside, wait for the inside door panels to close THEN select your floor. Then upon exit, inside door panels will open and then open door. 0 is ground. Staff very helpful and responsive to hotels.com messages through app. Upon arrival at 12pm, I was able to pay an early check-in fee which it was worth it for me as I flew from the US and did not sleep on the plane. Also, they offered upon availability to pay €10 per hour for late checkout, which I also took advantage of for one hour to leave at noon instead of 11 AM. It was convenient as they took it from the €50 deposit at check-in. Note that on the auto response I received from Hotels.com when I made the reservation that it was a cash deposit which it is not, it’s ran through a credit card. Unfortunately, I had gone and took out euros that I did not use.

This hotel should not call itself ‘boutique’ - it is basic and very tired and shabby. Our room was grubby - dirt around the edges of the room, wallpaper peeling, grime on the walls, someone else’s rubbish under the bed. The shower looked good but flooded the bathroom every time. The room was cramped and the furniture was very worn and damaged. One of our towels was so thin in places you could see through it whilst the other had a rip in it. Staff at the small reception desk were pleasant and apologetic but seemingly unable to make any changes.

This was an excellent value for my stay. It’s a short walk (4 minutes) to the more touristy areas. Super accessible to trams. The room was a bit small - but I was alone and had no issues. My one area of concern was the shower floor wasn’t separate from the rest of the bathroom - and there was no slope - so water got everywhere in the bathroom. Also - no ledge or shelf to put soap/shampoo in the shower. Lastly, the shower head in the ceiling didn’t work - but the handheld wand did - and the water was nice & hot. I would stay again - it’s so convenient & really got a great price.

I had the best sleeps in a long time and was perfectly central enough to get around without being 'too' central if you know what i mean. Would definately recommend it and stay there again. Thanks

Location was good. Room was tiny and backed on to the lift, so was noisy when the lift was in use. No traffic noise. Bed was saggy on one side. Staff were friendly enough but didn’t go out of their way. No service done in a 4 night stay.
