9 Brick Hotel

I did not feel welcomed here by staff. My last night in Seoul, upon check in I was given room that smelled like cigarettes. I asked to change and the front desk said they are non smoking and made me feel like I was asking a lot to change rooms. I told them someone had smoked in there and you can smell it. They did give me a different room but it felt reluctant. As my last night in Seoul, I thought it would be nice to have a glass of wine and some dessert. I went to the second floor to the restaurant and was not greeted. There were two females and one male staff member there that just looked at me like what was I doing there. Then finally the male asked if I had a reservation. He said I could sit down but wasn’t friendly. I said I would just have a glass of wine and some dessert. He told me I could not sit down because I have to order food. I said dessert can be food and he said no. It felt very dismissive for someone who is a hotel guest. When I checked out in the morning, I wanted to go across the alley street to get coffee before I had to jump on the subway with all my luggage. I asked to leave my luggage and the front desk clerk was reluctant again. He asked me for how long like it was such a problem. Seriously ruining an opportunity to enjoy my last morning before heading to the airport. I stayed at the Ryse last week. They were so accommodating I regretted not spending the extra $50 to stay there my last night.

Breakfast was okay.

Pros: Cleanliness, staff, location, room safebox, fridge, bedding, wi-fi. Neutral: Breakfast Cons: There is, literally, no place to store your belongings in the room. No closets, no dressers. There isn't even one of those folding stands to put your luggage on. You will be living out of your suitcase. This was not only a feature of my room, which I believe was the least expensive in the hotel, but the more expensive rooms as well. This makes no sense (unless it is true of all hotels in Seoul?). I found this very inconvenient as it compromised the comfort of the room.

the hotel condition are very good, its feels a real hotel service, the staff are very attentive and helpful. I'm highly recomended.

Excellent

9 Brick Hotel was located in a convenient area in Hongdae, not too far from the subway (approximately a 5-10 minute walk) or the closest airport limo stop, and was close to a subway entrance with an elevator, which was perfect for taking the AREX back to the airport. There was also lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby too, which was great for late night eats and solo dining. The room itself was perfect for one person - plenty of space, clean and had everything one would need. The bathroom was also really nice and spacious with a tub, which isn't commonly found in hotels, but be warned - it is a bit high to step in and out and since there is no shower curtain, it can lead to a bit of a mess in the bathroom after using it. The staff were always welcoming and helpful too, and allowed me to check in early. The area itself was quiet but also had plenty of people around so I felt safe when walking around at night. Overall, a great hotel and I would recommend for solo travellers.

Very pleasant and centrally located with a very nice staff

The location was fantastic, the penthouse suite with courtyard was charming. We appreciated them storing our bags before and after check in. We also appreciated the 12 o'clock check out, that gave us time to do some things before flying back to Canada. Breakfast was nice. Only comment would be that they could up their coffee game. Thankfully there are no shortages of great coffee places nearby.

The stay overall is good!

Very clean room, friendly staff who all spoke English. Large bathroom with clean shower and separate bath, and comfortable bed. Only small issue was there was no suit case rack, and only a small low place to hang a few clothes, so we were reaching off the floor.

Staff not very supportive

As a solo traveler, it could be the best hotel to stay. Everywhere is safe and walkable including shopping, dining, Hankang park. The best part is Bluetooth connectivity in the room so I enjoyed my playlists in a speaker!!

The amenities were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were excellent and very helpful.
