Mola is ideally located for a first visit to Madrid. It isn’t in a hip neighborhood but it is smack in the middle of the center, less than 5 minutes away from Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, etc. Most tourist sights are a stone throw away which make the hostel a perfect home base for a first visit to the city. The room and en-suite bathroom were very clean (above average for a hostel). There are some visible signs of humidity around the hostel but it doesn’t smell of mold or anything like that- I think they might have had an isolated flooding incident that they haven’t fully fixed from a cosmetic standpoint. The friendly staff was available 24/7. While I wouldn’t stay in this area of Madrid again (I’d probably go to Chueca or Malasaña for a second trip to Madrid) I would definitely recommend the hostel for first timers in the city!

Clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Window blinds broken so early sun a problem. Champions league final weekend so I'm embarrassed to say what I paid to share a room with 7 others but all accommodation in the city had inflated rates. Thankfully the bars and restaurants kept their prices normal. Hostel convenient to city centre. First time doing the hostel thing and that box is ticked for me.

I really love a dorm room with an en-suite bathroom and this one was so clean and open. Very easy for 10 people to share. The whole room felt very open and airy which was really appreciated!

The hostel is well located, easy access to public transit. However, the hostel is a lot larger than expected and accommodates a significant amount of people, that I don't think the staff can necessarily attend to. The climate is not well controlled in the rooms, especially on the top bunk, it's way too hot (mentioned in several other reviews). Each bed should have a curtain (also mentioned in several other reviews), there is a lack of privacy, taking into account it's a shared room. The lights randomly came on in the room in the middle of the night and could not be shut off, at the very least a curtain would have helped. I would recommend the hostel, but only if you get a private room.
