For expensive Basel and Switzerland, this is about as cheap as it gets. Check in was easy if you follow the instructions. Yes, there is a bit of twisting around to get to your room, but this is not impossible to figure out. Facilities are super clean for sure. We liked the coffee/tea in the hallway. The real deal here is the breakfast. When I booked the room through Expedia, I paid $19 total for the two of us. Onsite you pay closer to $30 per person. It is a decent spread with the usual European items including bacon & eggs, a variety of juices, and a nice coffee machine. I assume the three cappuccinos I drank made up for what I paid. This, including the great view, made the general prices in Switzerland less painful. The location about 100m from the SBB train station made this the best deal without taking a tram to a suburb.

I booked this hotel for one night as it was an easy 5 min. walk from the train station so very convenient. The room was large w/no view and the bed was pretty hard for our liking so not the best nights sleep. The bathroom was a nice size and shower was huge! We did have the included breakfast in the morning which was fine and the gal at reception both when we checked in and out was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also across from many tram lines which makes it easy to get around.

Very wonkey getting around in the hotel. You have to use two elevators and walk through many corridors but the price and location are good. Very near the train, tram, and bus. Thrifty shopping and eating nearby. The room is very large. The shower is also large. Breakfast is good. No complaints.

The hotel is basic. The showers, if you're a fan of showers, are great. Above all is it's location. A two minute walk to the train station and the tram stops. You'd expect it to be noisy but it isn't. Fine for an overnight stay.

Great location to the SBB station and only a short walk into the centre. Only couple things we could fault was the noise outside which wasn't the hotels fault and there was a slight cigarette smell coming from the extractor fan in the bathroom.

The room was simple and small but met our needs for our one night stay near the rail station. The staff were friendly. We used the local metro passes to get to the old historic area. I highly recommend travelers use these. There was a coffee and tea service in the hall way. Air flow was great in our room. I would stay here again.

Room was super clean, comfortable and well heated. Don't make the same mistake as I did and make sure you check if you're in a lift accessible room! I didn't realise I booked for a room that was stairs accessible only and I found myself lugging my suitcase up three floors haha. Luckily it was just for one nights stay! In saying that, even if you're in a lift accessible room, there are stairs to enter the building (unsure however if this can be bypassed by going through parking), enter reception and to the main area where the rooms are. For people who may need more accessibility, it might not be the best! It's otherwise a good hotel, you get a free transport card and discounts with your stay.

1-night stay in Basel, and City Inn was great for this. Firstly I arrived ahead of time, just to drop off my luggage before officially checking in at 3pm. However my husband and I had 4 suitcases and 2 backpacks and I kindly requested a room with elevator access on short notice. The receptionist who assisted me was so courteous and helpful! I was able to get my room one time and close to elevator. The room was spacious and clean. Bathroom EXTRA huge. I think we got an upgraded room due to the location of the elevator. I definitely appreciate the assistance. Location of this hotel is ideal! Walking distance to the SBB and steps away from the trams/buses. Breakfast was included and was simple and enough for us! Great value for money.

A good hotel, well located near the rail station. Checking in was fuss-free on arrival for my 2 night stay. Returning for 1 night before returning to the UK the following morning. Room was ok although it did have several areas of low ceilings - not helpful when you are 6’ 2”. Bathroom was functionally good. Very large shower with an overhead and usual water outlet. Water was hot and came with very good pressure (room was on the 3rd floor). Breakfast was v good with selection of all you really need. Dining room located on the 8th with good views.
