Moonlight Bay Resort

We booked this hotel for six nights and checked out after one night, forfeiting nearly $1,000 in non-refundable charges in order to salvage our family vacation. We made the decision within an hour of arriving. Positives first: the rooms are actually decent for a 3-star, and the front desk staff are gracious. However, the property is ramshackle and not well-maintained. The beach is gray, rocky and full of trash. The pool is small. The food is bad - think penne arabiatte made with ketchup, terrible curries… and you’re lucky if the food that arrives in any way resembles what you ordered. The front desk attendant was concerned when we left early and asked why. When we explained about the trash on the beach, she explained that they don’t bother cleaning it during the low season. We explained that we still expect a nice stay for the money we spend, regardless of the season. FYI, just south of the hotel on Kantiang Bay and everywhere else in Southern Thailand, hospitality businesses are operating professionally during the low season. These guys just need to do better.

Fantastic resort on the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Jovi. Food at the restaurant was also very good. Especially the sea bass. I will definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel with a nice room, the pool was clean and relaxing. Overall it was a nice experience.

Room smelled like sewage and mothballs in The creekside rooms.Staff did extra cleaning and tried their best but owner needs to repair it. staff accommodated us in a hillside room when a room was free and it was very nice. Great staff, location pool and bar.

100%% would come back... it was so quiet and peaceful... food and drink prices reasonable and delicious.. the most perfect sunsets right on your private beach in all of thailand...

We booked a beachfront villa. Amazing location. Simply beautiful and peaceful. The resort was lovely. We were not impressed by the breakfast and chose to eat breakfast off resort 4 of 5 days. We enjoyed happy hour specials at the bar and loved the music, and the seating arrangements. Our only complaint at the bar was the smoking policy. Unfortunately on several occasions, we would get comfortable at a table with a drink and other guests would smoke cigarettes or weed and spoil our visit. Thankfully we could retreat to our villa, but thought this was unfair. It was so easy to hire a TukTuk or van at the hotel. We did many times and easily got around for a reasonable price. We loved Ko Lanta!!

Location, location, location. The resort is a little more out of the way and you do have to get taxis everywhere but the location makes up for that in spades. With the bar right on the beach, dining and drinking were sublime. The staff were so friendly too and they make the best Long Island iced tea in Thailand!

Property is beautiful, especially down by the beach and it’s lovely to have a private beach. Had one of the best meals ever for lunch, the grilled fish with garlic, pomelo salad and pad Thai. The rest was lacking unfortunately. Rooms are minimal and bare, if you’re not fit it’s tough to walk up to the beachfront ones. Bed was comfortable. Toiletries in the shower were not refilled. And the staff are not attentive whatsoever at the restaurant, and if you need room service or help, you are supposed to text reception or the room service line but nobody answers. This put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable spot. Breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful in getting us a ride at checkout. With some small changes and a designated English speaker, it could be great.

The staff where amazing, warm smiles and friendly Kia on reception was a pleasure to deal with helping us out with travel advice etc. would go back in a heart beat.

Staff, food, location and amenities are great. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The room we had located near check in, however, was not the best by any means. The walls are thin and the adjoining room door let in all the noise you associate with a 2 star hotel. You could hear every step the people above made. Our balcony was also directly in the line of sight for the walking path to the beach and restaurant. Every single guest in the hotel could look right into our room. Ugh.

The resort was amazing!! We were shocked at how beautiful the scenery was, the ocean bar, and a little river that flows through the resort. But the best was customer service! I have never met such nice, caring, and sincere staff. They were always upbeat. My friend was in a moped accident and they went above and beyond to make sure she got everything she needed. Their English was also very good which was nice because they were willing to call the clinic for us, schedule us taxis, booked our ferry for us, and so much more. The location of the resort was also very nice. Would definitely recommend!

An amazing hotel in a great location. The team were very kind and helpful, particularly Kookai who went above and beyond to recommend local restaurants. The food was fresh, beautifully presented and tasted great. Very good value for money. Perfect location for our trip to ‘Walking with Giants’ which was the highlight of our stay.

Moonlight Bay Resort We spent 8 nights at Moonlight Bay Resort and had a fantastic stay. The hotel is situated directly on Klong Nin Beach and has its own secluded beach. There are two pool areas and a nice restaurant and bar. We stayed in a pool view room which was a good size with a huge balcony overlooking the pool and the creek and were able to watch a great variety of wildlife from the balcony in the early evening. Breakfast was included and had a good selection of food. One tip: get a second coffee maker!! The morning coffee queue is painful! The pool and beach area are quiet and there is no morning battle for sunbeds. We snorkelled off the beach and there was a bit to see underwater but not much. The hotel is about one mile from the main Klong Nin beach area which has a plethora of beach bars, restaurants and massage parlours. We chose to walk in and back each evening but there is always a taxi or two waiting outside the hotel if needed. I only have one real criticism. We decided to attend the Wednesday Seafood Barbecue and Fire show and turned up at the scheduled time of 7pm. There was already a large queue so we ordered a drink, joined the queue and made our order. By this time, we got the very last jacket potato and all the corn was gone. (There were still a number of people behind us in the line.) We placed our order (fish and squid) and went back to our seats. It was the one and a quarter hours until our food arrived. So ein tolles kleines Resort auf Koh Lanta! Für uns die perfekte Mischung aus hübsch aber nicht zu fancy, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war super. Unsere Villa mit seitlichem Meerblick würden wir genau so wieder buchen. Was mir wichtig ist: alles war soweit dicht, dass keine Insekten etc. reinkommen. Das Frühstück war kleiner als man das von anderen Resorts in Phuket etc. kennt aber mehr als ausreichend. Die Massagen am Strand waren wirklich unter den besten, die ich in diesem Urlaub bekommen habe! Generell war das Personal super und hat uns auch mal eine selbst mitgebrachte Mango beim Frühstück aufgeschnitten :-) Die Lage war für uns perfekt, der Weg ans obere/untere Ende der Insel ist jeweils ca 20 Min, nach Old Town ca. 15 Minuten. Es sind einige Restaurants fußläufig erreichbar, wir empfehlen dennoch im Hotel einen Scooter auszuborgen.

We stayed in both the hillside huts and the pool access rooms. We loved our stay staff very friendly food was delicious. My only suggestion would be the beach/pool area could do with an update. more comfortable sun loungers, pool updated and more umbrellas. beach bar was lovely for sunset drinks. Great location and beach was beautiful.

The room with ocean view felt overpriced, but the view was nice. othervise a nice resort with very good breakfast. Stuff was helpful, would stay again, not in the premium villa though.
