I stayed here on a week day for a trip to Haydock Races and came away fairly disappointed. I wasn’t expecting luxury given the price point, but it also wasn’t especially cheap compared to other budget options nearby, so I had hoped for a better standard.
The first impression of the room wasn’t great. There were several dark hairs on the bed, a dead bug in the bed, and a ripped pillowcase, which immediately made the room feel unclean and poorly maintained. The curtains were also full of holes, so the light came straight through early in the morning.
Noise was another issue. The rooms are definitely not soundproof and you can hear people constantly opening and closing doors in the corridor. On top of that, the cleaners were hoovering in the room next door at around 8am, so there was no chance of a lie in.
The breakfast room itself was pleasant enough and the food was alright, although certainly not the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. I didn’t enjoy the coffee, and the two breakfast staff members seemed quite chaotic during service.
Overall, it was okay for the price but I would suggest more attention to cleanliness.
